Alex Turcotte

25-Year-Old CenterC
Los Angeles Kings
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Turcotte finally established himself at the NHL level in 2024-25, earning 25 points in 68 appearances while averaging 11:44 of ice time. The 24-year-old forward was scratched for three of six playoff games, so he's still not fully trusted in high-pressure scenarios, but it looks like he'll be capable of playing at least a bottom-six role moving forward. Turcotte's game is all skill, so he won't offer a lot in the way of physicality for fantasy managers. He'll need more ice time to push into the range of being an effective depth forward, and most fantasy managers can wait and see if he makes any gains early in 2025-26. Turcotte should push for 10-15 goals and 30-plus points this year, especially if he can secure a spot on the Kings' third line or even higher in the lineup. Read Past Outlooks

Turcotte logged an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
ANALYSIS
Turcotte's helper was his first point in seven games since he returned from an upper-body injury that sidelined him prior to the Olympic break. The 25-year-old had been playing center, but the Kings' trade for Scott Laughton has pushed Turcotte onto the third-line wing for now. Turcotte may be able to do more there, especially with a defensively reliable center on his line. For the season, Turcotte has 13 points, 64 shots on net, 42 hits, 28 blocked shots and 21 PIM across 56 outings.

2019
Although Turcotte was selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, the 23-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the NHL. He logged 20 regular-season contests with LA last season, recording one goal and four points while averaging just 9:17 of ice time. On the plus side, he did look good with AHL Ontario, providing 10 goals and 29 points across 35 regular-season appearances. With Pierre-Luc Dubois gone, there's an opportunity for Turcotte to earn a middle-six role with the Kings out of training camp. Turcotte isn't a great option to draft in standard fantasy leagues, but there's still enough potential there to make him worth keeping an eye on.
The fifth overall pick in the 2019 draft, Turcotte drew Ryan O'Reilly and even Jonathan Toews comparisons as a prospect for his skill, hockey IQ and off-the-charts intensity and compete levels. Still only 19 years old, he scored an impressive nine goals and 26 points in 29 games for the Wisconsin Badgers last season as a freshman, proving himself to be ready for the next challenge. Turcotte's an outstanding skater who already plays a strong two-way game, and while he can snap a shot past any goalie, his preference for facilitating and his ability to thread passes through traffic likely marks him as a future second-line center. He'll fight for a spot on the Kings' roster to begin the season, but could be limited to a checking line in his NHL debut. He also could stand to get a bit stronger and bulkier if only to avoid some of the injuries he's already had to deal with in his career, but even if his short-term fantasy value is limited, Turcotte is one of the core pieces of the Los Angeles rebuild.
The Kings had to be ecstatic when Turcotte slid to them at the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-11 pivot spent the 2018-19 campaign with the U.S. National U18 Team, racking up 27 goals and 62 points in 37 contests. The 18-year-old will head to the University of Wisconsin for the 2019-20 campaign, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him sign with the Kings after a single collegiate season. Turcotte's a must-own player in dynasty formats and a name worth keeping an eye on if he turns pro ahead of the 2020-21 season.

Set to compete for roster spot
CLos Angeles Kings
June 22, 2024
Turcotte, who signed a three-year contract Saturday, is expected to be a serious contender for an Opening Night roster spot with the Kings, per Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site.
ANALYSIS
Turcotte's newly inked deal is two-way for the 2024-25 campaign, which means he will be paid less if he ends up in the minors. However, it becomes a one-way agreement in 2025-26 and 2026-27, which speaks to the Kings' confidence that he's not far off from being a mainstay at the NHL level. During the 2023-24 regular season, the 23-year-old had 29 points across 35 outings with AHL Ontario and four points in 20 games with LA.
