A.J. Greer

Greer established himself as a bottom-six regular for the Bruins in 2022-23, but he didn't produce much from a fantasy perspective. He put up 12 points, 101 hits and 114 PIM over 61 contests while routinely filling a fourth-line role with an average ice time of 9:07. While the Bruins will have to retool after major retirements, that isn't likely to earn much more ice time for a grinder like Greer. Expect the 26-year-old to see a modest increase in ice time, while his offense could rise into the 15-20 point range. He'll still offer some toughness, but it's unlikely to be enough to help in fantasy.

An offseason assault charge hangs over Greer's head as the 2019-20 campaign looms, and he still has a long way to go to captivate the masses. He's been confined to a part-time, bottom-six role in the NHL -- adding a goal and five assists between 37 games -- though his 0.81 points-per-game output skating for AHL Colorado last season gives a sneak peek at his offensive potential. Avalanche GM Joe Sakic threw caution the wind by signing Greer to a one-year, two-way extension once the calendar flipped to August, but the winger could surprise in the right situation.

Greer shuttled between the Avalanche and the team's AHL San Antonio affiliate throughout the 2017-18 campaign, serving as one of the first call-ups in the event of an injury among the Avalanche forwards. He finished the campaign with only three assists at the top level over 17 contests and likely faces an uphill battle for an Opening Night roster spot again in 2018-19, which is the final year of his contract before he becomes a restricted free agent.
