NHL Best Bets Tonight Odds and Picks for December 7 Matchups

Vegas Golden Knights at New York Rangers

The Golden Knights (13-6-8) and Rangers (15-12-3) meet at Madison Square Garden at 7:00 p.m. ET on NHL Network.

Vegas has managed a 6-2-4 mark on the road, while the Rangers are 3-8-2 at home. After some terrible struggles scoring at MSG, the Rangers have bounced back nicely lately, starting to play to their capabilities.

Vegas makes the second stop on a five-game road trip. It opened the sojourn with a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday as moderate favorites (-135), as Akira Schmid blanked his former team while the Under (5.5) cashed. The Golden Knights have won three consecutive games, averaging 3.7 goals per game (GPG) in the win streak. Prior to the shutout win, Vegas had allowed three or more goals in six straight games, and the Over is 4-2-1 in the past seven matchups.

The Rangers are 5-1-1 in the past seven games, as Igor Shesterkin has stepped up his play dramatically, with New York allowing two or fewer goals in five of those seven contests. The Under is 3-1 in the past four games, and 8-3-1 in the past 12 games.

Vegas won 3-2 at T-Mobile Arena on Nov. 18, as the Golden Knights cashed as moderate favorites (-135) while the Under (5.5) also cashed, with Shesterkin kicking aside 23 of the 26 shots he faced, while Schmid made 17 saves on 19 shots. Braeden Bowman and Shea Theodore notched power-play goals, with Theodore's PPG holding up as the game-winning tally.

For the Rangers, Jonny Brodzinski and Vincent Trocheck were the goal scorers, with Will Cuylle, J.T. Miller and Artemi Panarin accounting for assists.

The home team is 4-2 in the past six meetings in this series, and the underdogs are 5-2 across the past seven encounters. The Under is 2-0-1 in the past three meetings, while going 5-2-3 in the past 10 in the series.

We'll back the Golden Knights to get the job done, as the Rangers still just cannot be trusted at home. We'll also side with the Under based on the series trends, and the play of Shesterkin and the Rangers lately.

  • Under 6 Goals (-115 at BetMGM)

Chicago Blackhawks at Anaheim Ducks

The Blackhawks (12-10-6) and the Ducks (17-10-1) meet at Honda Center at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Chicago was waxed 6-0 in Los Angeles on Saturday, as the Kings bounced back from a 2-1 loss Thursday in the front end of a back-to-back. Still, the Blackhawks are 1-1-1 on the current road trip.

Anaheim has been erratic, at best, and it's difficult to know which team is going to show up. The Ducks posted a 4-3 shootout win over the Washington Capitals on Friday, and that came on the heels of a 7-0 loss against Utah on Wednesday. Prior to that, on Monday, the Ducks won 4-1 in St. Louis, and before that, they lost last Sunday at home against these Blackhawks, 5-3.

Chicago has cashed the Over at a 6-1 clip in the past seven games, including the win over Anaheim. The Ducks opened the game with two quick goals by Cutter Gauthier and Olen Zellweger in the first 47 seconds, and Troy Terry picked up secondary assists on both. Chris Kreider scored midway through the first with helpers to Beckett Sennecke and Mason McTavish, and Spencer Knight looked to be in for a lackluster day. However, that was all he allowed.

The Blackhawks scored the next five goals, with Tyler Bertuzzi netting a PPG, with Ryan Greene and Colton Dach leveling the score 3-3. Connor Bedard netted an unassisted goal at 9:55 of the third, and that stood up as the game-winning goal, while Bedard returned, putting a bow on the scoring with an unassisted empty-net goal. And, just like that, after a nightmare start, Knight allowed three goals on 26 shots for the win.

Let's side with the Ducks to get the job done, and we'll go Over based on the trends for both teams lately.

  • Ducks -1.5 Goals (-130 at Fanatics Sportsbook)
  • Over 6.5 Goals (-106 at BetRivers Sportsbook)
