2025 Fantasy Outlook
Riley has spent four seasons on the PGA Tour and he's yet to finish outside the top 75 on the FedEx list at season's end. Riley was a grinder his first two seasons on the PGA Tour, playing in 29 and 35 events. After winning in May of 2024, his pace slowed and his game fell off a bit, resulting in reduced production. Getting that first win on the PGA Tour can have that effect sometimes as it's easy to take your foot off the gas when you know your card is secured for two years. With the two-year expemption expiring, he'll have to shift his mindset this year and get back to the grind. With that in mind, he should play more often, resulting in a more lucrative season. As such, Riley appears to be a good salary cap option this season. Read Past Outlooks
Falters with 54-hole lead
January 18, 2026
Riley struggled to a one-over 71 in the final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii and had to settle for a share of sixth place.
ANALYSIS
Riley held the 54-hole lead and looked very comfortable early on. He made birdies at 3 and 5 to take a commanding three-shot lead. Then a few errant drives led to a disaster of a stretch to close the front-nine. Riley made bogeys at 6 and 7 before a double-bogey at 8 and then a par on the easiest hole on the course. At the same time, Chris Gotterup was making his move and would completely distance himself from Riley. Birdies at 10 and 18 would at least salvage a T6 finish. Riley's putting this week was sensational, gaining over 11 strokes on the field, but the shaky ball-striking caught up with him on Sunday. This was still the first top-30 finish since he finished T2 at last year's PGA Championship. Riley has the game to be a quality player on the PGA Tour, but the consistency has made him a frustrating fantasy player since he came out on Tour. He'll tee it up at The American Express next week.

2020
Riley hit the ground running in his rookie season of 2021-2022, but he stumbled a bit this past season. Davis had the same amount of top-3s (1) as the previous season, but his top-10s dropped from six to two. The results didn't affect his earnings that much due to an overall increase in purses, but it's clear that Riley played much better two seasons ago vs. this past season. That provides an opportunity in salary cap leagues however as his number is simply too low this season. Riley is just 26 and it's not uncommon to see a young golfer stumble after having some early success. Riley should bounce back this season and as such, he makes for a solid salary cap pick this season.
Riley really became a DFS darling over the spring months after a slow start to his rookie season. After falling in a playoff at the Valspar Championship to Sam Burns, Riley had a stretch of six straight finishes of T13-or-better. He would only post one top-25 over his final seven starts, however, and fall just outside that Top-30 that qualify for East Lake. Really the only weakness here appears to be short game, as he ranked outside the top-115 in SG: Around-the-Green and scrambling. If he cleans that up a bit, Riley has the potential to take off as a sophomore because he's long, a solid iron player, and a stout putter who ranked inside the top-15 in birdie average.
Riley is a former junior golf prodigy, who won four consecutive state titles in Mississippi before attending the University of Alabama where he became a two-time All-American. He recorded just one top-10 in 18 starts during his first year on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019, but Riley picked up a pair of victories in 2020-21 at the Panama Championship and the TPC San Antonio Championship at the Oaks. Riley has slipped outside the top 300 in the Official World Golf Ranking, however, failing to notch a top-10 finish since May's AdventHealth Championship.
It didn't take much time for the three-time collegiate All-American from the University of Alabama to outgrow the Korn Ferry Tour as he notched a pair of wins at the Panama Championship and TPC San Antonio Championship in 2020. The 23-year-old tallied five top-10s and nine top-25s in 16 events to finish second on the KFT's points list at the conclusion of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. Riley also made a pair of cuts at the PGA Tour level during the fall series, placing 76th at the RSM Classic and T39 at the Sanderson Farms Championship. On the Korn Ferry Tour, he was second in birdie average and first in the all-around ranking.
