A second-round selection in 2024 out of Western Michigan, Kneeland played only 11 regular-season games as a rookie due to a knee injury that required surgery in October, and he failed to record a sack. The Cowboys' pass rush is built around Micah Parsons, and if Kneeland is healthy he could take a big step forward in Year 2 against very distracted protection schemes. Passes away at age 24
The Cowboys announced in a statement Thursday that Kneeland passed away at the age of 24, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kneeland was a second-round pick by the Cowboys in 2024 following an encouraging collegiate career at Western Michigan. In 18 career games with the team, Kneeland compiled 26 tackles (15 solo), one sack, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery. He scored the lone touchdown of his career in Monday's 27-17 loss to the Cardinals, when he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Selected in the second round of the 2024 Draft, Kneeland appeared headed for a rotational edge rusher role, but the Cowboys may need him to handle more snaps than anticipated after losing Sam Williams for the season to a torn ACL. Kneeland has impressive athleticism and should be effective against the run as a rookie, but his pass-rushing skills are raw and his production at Western Michigan doesn't suggest he'll make an immediate impact in the NFL.

Kneeland is likely to find more success inside and doesn't have the pass-rushing skills to develop into an elite edge, according to one NFL executive, Mike Sando of The Athletic reports. "He is not like Danielle Hunter or Everson Griffen or any of those guys, but he can be a good piece," the executive said of Kneeland.
