Past Fantasy Outlooks

2020
The Falcons finished dead last against the pass in 2020, so it shouldn't be a surprise to note Sheffield once again struggled and now has allowed a 72.0 completion percentage across 118 career cover targets. The team didn't add any big-ticket corners this offseason to improve its secondary, instead investing draft capital (second-round pick Richie Grant) and signing veterans (Erik Harris and Duron Harmon) at safety. As a result, Sheffield should continue to take his lumps alongside fellow young corners A.J. Terrell and Isaiah Oliver.
Sheffield started off his rookie campaign with just 19 total defensive snaps over the first quarter of the regular season. In his 12 appearances the remainder of the year, Sheffield played at least 80 percent of the defensive snaps 10 times, but he was not able to record an interception as Atlanta allowed a subpar 254.8 passing yards per game during that span. This year he is expected to compete for starting snaps as a perimeter corner, with first-round rookie A.J. Terrell and 2018 second-rounder Isaiah Oliver vying for the same role.
