Moves to IR
The Giants placed Gano (neck) on injured reserve Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With his placement on IR for a second time this season, Gano's campaign is officially over after making five appearances and connecting on nine of 10 field-goal attempts and all nine point-after tries. Younghoe Koo is set to kick for the Giants in the short term, but the team also has Jude McAtamney on the practice squad as another option to handle placekicking duties.

Gano missed 16 games over the past two seasons, after playing every possible game in his first three years with the Giants. He stayed healthy from Week 10 on last season and missed just two kicks, including one blocked, which boosted his case to stick around as New York's placekicker in 2025 for the second season of a three-year, $16.5 million extension. That doesn't, however, necessarily mean he'll make it to Week 1, at which point he'd be 38 years old and carrying a non-guaranteed $4.4 million base salary. And even if Gano does keep the job, he might be kicking for one of the league's worst teams again.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Strong candidate to be cut
Gano will likely be cut by the Giants this offseason, Darryl Slater of NJ.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran kicker signed a contract extension with the team prior to the 2023 season, but since then Gano has struggled to stay healthy, and his accuracy has wavered when he has been healthy enough to play, although he's made nine of 10 field-goal attempts over five games in 2025. Letting Gano go would save the Giants $4.5 million against the salary cap while carrying a deal cap hit of only $1.25 million.
