Eddy Pineiro

Pineiro bounced around the league for a few years before seemingly finding a home in 2022 in Carolina, where he converted 33 of 35 FGAs and 30 of 32 PATs. The Panthers signed him to a two-year contract in March, so job security at least isn't an issue. The problem for fantasy is the combination of a new coach, rookie QB and subpar pass catchers. While they might compete in a weak NFC South, the Panthers aren't likely to be an especially strong or high-scoring team, and Pineiro's one impressive season doesn't necessarily prove he's among the top kickers in the league.

Pineiro stabilized the kicker position for the Jets down the stretch last season, making all eight of his field-goal attempts in five games with the team. He then lost a preseason kicking competition in New York to Greg Zuerlein, but Pineiro found a home in Carolina after Panthers kicker Zane Gonzalez suffered a groin injury.

In terms of conversion rates, Pineiro was right around league-average last year, and he also made both of his kicks from 50-plus yards. However, he had two games with a pair of missed field goals - both times in close contests the Bears ended up losing. Pineiro is unlikely to be a top-12 option, as the Chicago offense isn't likely to provide a ton of volume.

An early favorite for the kicking job in Oakland last year, Pineiro instead spent his rookie season on injured reserve after hurting his groin in August. Chicago then acquired him for a conditional seventh-round pick, setting up a camp battle with Elliott Fry. With Fry having been let go in August, Pineiro appears poised to handle Chicago's kicking duties, barring the addition of some late competition. If Pineiro keeps the job, he could end up quite busy in 2019, as an elite defense combined with a middling offense is often the right recipe for heavy FG volume.
