Posts fastest 40-yard dash of WRs
Thompson posted an official 4.26-second 40-yard dash at the 2026 NFL Combine on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Thompson and Zavion Thomas were the only two wide receivers Saturday who ran sub-4.30 second dash times. The Mississippi State product reached a top speed of 23.95 miles per hour on his second dash attempt, which was the seventh-fastest top speed since 2023 and faster than Xavier Worthy's mark from 2024, when the latter reached 23.62 mph on his record-setting 4.21-second 40-yard dash, per NFL Next Gen Stats. Coming into the Combine, Thompson wasn't listed as a top-10 wide receiver on Mel Kiper of ESPN's Big Board rankings, but the wideout's 40-yard dash time could help him move up draft boards for several teams. During his final season of college, Thompson caught 57 passes for 1,054 yards and six touchdowns while turning four carries into 14 yards and a score across 13 games.

ANALYSIS
Thompson was viewed as one of the fastest wide receivers coming into the NFL Scouting Combine, and the prospect out of Mississippi State didn't disappoint, as he delivered the fastest 40-yard dash among all players to participate in the event. He had 1,054 receiving yards at Mississippi State in 2025, so Thompson's mix of speed and production could help elevate his draft stock.
