Brenen Thompson

22-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Thompson didn't do much during his college career until 2025, his age-22 campaign, but there's no doubt he's been on a roll since last year. He led the SEC in receiving yards, putting up 57-1,054-6 on 90 targets for Mississippi State, before starring at the 2026 NFL Combine with a 4.26 40-yard dash (t-6th all-time). Thompson may be too thin (5-foot-10, 164) to effectively deploy his speed in the NFL, but the Chargers will give it a shot, bringing in Thompson as the 105th overall pick (Round 4) this spring. He and RB Keaton Mitchell give new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel elite speed to work with off the bench, while the likes of Omarion Hampton and Ladd McConkey figure to handle more of the heavy lifting. Thompson could perhaps get a shot at regular playing time if things go wrong with Quentin Johnson and/or Tre' Harris, but the more likely scenarios entail Thompson learning in street clothes or occupying a part-time role. Drafted by Chargers
WRLos Angeles Chargers
April 25, 2026
The Chargers selected Thompson in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 105th overall.
ANALYSIS
Thompson is a speedster who put up eye-popping numbers in Jeff Lebby's offense at Mississippi State in 2025, racking up 57 grabs for 1,054 yards and six touchdowns. He's undersized at 5-foot-9, 166 pounds, however, he possesses blazing speed, posting a 4.26 40-time at the NFL Combine, which isn't surprising given his track background. The Chargers already have a trio of impressive receivers in Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston and Tre' Harris, but Thompson could slot in behind that group and see the field in the slot if McConkey needs a breather or misses any time.

Outside top three WRs at OTAs
WRLos Angeles Chargers
May 28, 2026
Tre' Harris has been operating as a starter in three-receiver sets at OTAs, ahead of Thompson, per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers have an opening alongside Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston. Harris and Thompson are the top two candidates to fill that spot, but the early edge in that competition belongs to Harris. Thompson was drafted in the fourth round out of Mississippi State, one year after the Chargers used a 2025 second-round selection on Harris out of Ole Miss. Harris has the edge in experience but is coming off a pedestrian rookie regular season in which he posted just 324 receiving yards.
