Anthony Miller

Miller, a second-round pick in the 2018 Draft, will get a fresh start in Houston for the final year of his rookie contract . He showed some promise in Chicago back in 2019, with 52 catches for 656 yards and two touchdowns, but he followed that up with a 49-485-2 line and five drops last season. Back in March, the Bears made Miller available for trade, eventually finding a taker in Houston. The Texans later traded Randall Cobb to Green Bay, but they still have Keke Coutee to compete with Miller for slot snaps. It is possible Miller could see regular work on the perimeter for the first time, considering the Texans lack proven outside threats beyond Brandin Cooks.

The 51st overall pick in 2018, Miller showed flashes last year, in particular a 13-9-140 game on Thanksgiving and a 15-9-118-1 game against the Packers in Week 15. Overall, his numbers were nothing special - 12.6 YPC and 7.7 YPT - while playing in one of the league's worst passing games. At 5-11, 199, Miller has only average size, and his 4.50 timed speed is similarly middle of the road. But he's athletic and strong - 39-inch vertical, 125-inch broad jump and a very quick 6.65 cone drill - and runs good routes. This year, Miller will start as the clear No. 2 option opposite Allen Robinson, and if quarterback Mitchell Trubisky doesn't improve, he'll be replaced by Nick Foles, who is at least a low-end, NFL-caliber starting quarterback, unlike last year's backup Chase Daniel. Like last year, Miller had offseason surgery to address chronic left shoulder problems, but he should be ready for the start of camp.

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky improved in Year 2, and coach Matt Nagy is one of the more innovative offensive minds in the league. There are a few mouths to feed in this offense - Allen Robinson returns as a low-end No. 1, Tarik Cohen is a weapon out of the backfield, TE Trey Burton saw 76 targets a year ago, and the speedy, 165-pound Taylor Gabriel gets plays called for him - but there is plenty of room for Miller to carve out a significant role in this high-powered attack. One other concern is the shoulder Miller dislocated five or six times last year and on which he had surgery in January. He didn't do much during the offseason program but received clearance for the start of training camp.

Taken with the 51st overall pick, Miller could get opportunities right out of the gate. Allen Robinson, who's returning from a torn ACL, is the team's No. 1, but after him only the perennially injured Kevin White and 165-pound Taylor Gabriel stand in Miller's way. Tailback Tarik Cohen functions as an extra receiver of sorts, too, but if Miller proves ready, he could wind up as Mitchell Trubisky's No. 2 target.
