NFL Week 17: ChatGPT Simulation Results and Predictions

NFL Week 17: ChatGPT Simulation Results and Predictions

There is a lot more clarity in the AFC and NFC playoff pictures, but some spots are still unresolved with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

RotoWire used ChatGPT to predict the results to be for each game during NFL Week 17. We asked the AI tool for 10 simulations of each matchup, with scores, using NFL rosters and available injury information as of Dec. 23. After that, we averaged the margin of victory for each matchup. RotoWire.com, as part of our NFL betting coverage, got these simulated results:

Which Week 17 Games Are Too Close To Call?

There are three games projected as 5-5 splits. The Giants and Raiders are playing for nothing but the possible right to draft No. 1 overall in April. The Jaguars have won six in a row and could clinch the AFC South title win a win over Indianapolis (plus a Houston loss or tie).

Then there are the Green Bay Packers, who will try to recover from Saturday's stunning loss and clinch a playoff spot in the NFC.

The Pack plays another Saturday game this week, hosting the fading Baltimore Ravens, who are 2.5-point underdogs with -105 odds for customers using the FanDuel promo code. In Week 16, Green Bay led Chicago 16-6 in the fourth quarter before the Bears pulled off an improbable comeback, including a rare successful onside kick, to win 22-16 in overtime.

To top it all off, Packers quarterback Jordan Love left the game with a concussion. This sets up a game where both quarterbacks are question marks, because Baltimore's Lamar Jackson left Sunday's loss to New England with a back injury.

The Ravens are clinging to faint playoff hopes; ESPN gives them a 7.1% chance to make the playoffs. That would translate to +1300 odds as a wager at leading sports betting sites nationwide.

In our projections, it's a 5-5 split after 10 simulations, perhaps reflecting the unknown health of both quarterbacks and the fact that the Ravens are in a must-win situation. A loss or tie would eliminate Baltimore from playoff contention and crown the Pittsburgh Steelers as AFC North champions.

Are There Any Other Projected Close Games In Week 17?

The Los Angeles Chargers have swept the three-time defending AFC champions, beaten the reigning Super Bowl champs and knocked off the current AFC No. 1 seed.

But for all of that, L.A. is still trailing Denver by a game in the AFC West and has +260 odds at Caesars Sportsbook to overhaul the Broncos for the division crown.

Likewise, Houston is on a seven-game winning streak and is tantalizingly close to clinching a playoff berth, but trails Jacksonville by a game in the AFC South. Texans QB C.J. Stroud missed four games this season and doesn't have a 300-yard passing game since a Week 8 loss to San Francisco. But Houston is getting it done the old-fashioned way: The Texans lead the league in total defense, allowing 272.3 yards per game.

L.A. has a projected 6-4 edge over the Texans according to ChatGPT projections. At DraftKings Sportsbook, the Texans are getting 2.5 points as of Dec. 23.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (over the Miami Dolphins) and the Buffalo Bills (against the Philadelphia Eagles) also have projected 6-4 edges, according to ChatGPT.

Week 17 NFL AI Projections Q&A

Q: How did ChatGPT simulate NFL Week 17 games?

A: RotoWire ran 10 simulations for every Week 17 matchup using ChatGPT, with rosters updated as of Dec. 23, 2025. Each game produced projected scores, a winner, and a calculated average margin of victory (MOV). This allowed us to compare not only who wins most often but also how decisively they win.

Q: Which teams dominated the ChatGPT simulations?

A: The Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots are the only teams that dominated the ChatGPT simulated matchups for Week 17, with the AI tool projecting those teams to sweep the board against the Browns and Jets, respectively.

Q: What were the closest or most balanced matchups in the simulations?

A: The Baltimore Ravens vs. Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts, and New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders are all toss-ups, according to projections done by ChatGPT.
