NFL Division Round: ChatGPT Simulation Results and Predictions

This week, the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos enter the postseason NFL betting fray, as the No. 1 seeds in each conference play in the Division Round on Saturday.

RotoWire used ChatGPT to predict results for each Division Round game of the playoffs. We asked the AI tool for 10 simulations of each matchup, with scores, using NFL rosters and available injury information as of Jan. 13. We then averaged the margin of victory for each matchup. Let's get right to it by breaking down each matchup. All times below are Eastern.

Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos (4:30 p.m. Saturday, CBS)

The Bills had a wild, back-and-forth game in Jacksonville before earning the first playoff road win of quarterback Josh Allen's career.

The Jaguars had a fine season, including a win in Denver against the Broncos. But Denver is still a more challenging foe for No. 6 seed Buffalo and our AI projections indicate that, with a 5-5 split after 10 simulated games.

The Broncos have odds between +700 and +800 in Super Bowl futures betting, depending on the operator.

That's good value for a No. 1 seed, especially when you consider that both the Bills and New England Patriots have shorter odds across the board among AFC contenders.

Denver has surpassed 400 yards of offense five times this season, including that loss to Jacksonville. But the Broncos have never forced more than two turnovers in a game this season and were tied for 26th with 14 takeaways all season.

If the Bills can limit mistakes, they have an explosive enough offense to overcome Denver. Customers using the BetMGM bonus code can get the Bills as a 1-point underdog as of Tuesday afternoon; several other major operators had Buffalo favored by 1 or 1.5 points.

Those wishing instead to bet the over in anticipation of a shootout can get over 46.5 points at -110 odds with DraftKings Sportsbook.

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks (8 p.m. Saturday, FOX)

The 49ers survived a back-and-forth game to eliminate the reigning champions on Sunday.

But San Francisco's road victory over the Philadelphia Eagles came at a price: Tight end George Kittle was lost for the season with a torn Achilles. The Niners have done very well to even get this far with as many injuries as they have had.

Now the No. 6 NFC seed must travel to Seattle, where the healthy Seahawks and their rabid fans await after a week's rest. At FanDuel Sportsbook, the Seahawks are 7-point favorites as of Tuesday afternoon; many other operators had it as a 7.5-point spread. As always, lines are subject to change, but Seahawks backers who want to avoid the hook know where to look.

The Seahawks clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC by beating the Niners 13-3 in San Francisco in Week 18. San Francisco won in Seattle on opening weekend, but this is a different Seahawks team now and NFL odds for this week reflect that, with Seattle installed as the biggest favorite out of these four games. Sam Darnold (above) has had a full season to establish himself and has been exactly what coach Mike Macdonald needed him to be: Efficient and consistent, with 4,048 yards and 25 touchdowns passing.

But Darnold also has been prone to turnovers, with 14 interceptions (third in the NFL) and 11 fumbles, tied with Baker Mayfield and Cam Ward for the most in the league. The Niners will probably have to force a few takeaways and get a monster game out of running back Christian McCaffrey to keep up.

Houston Texans at New England Patriots (3 p.m. Sunday, ABC)

AFC second seed New England is favored by 3 points with bet365 Sportsbook and some other operators in this one.

The Texans earned the first road playoff victory in franchise history on Monday night, but they now must travel again on short rest.

No. 5 seed Houston eliminated Pittsburgh 30-6 with dominant defense, fitting for the unit ranked No. 1 in the regular season at 277.2 yards allowed per game. Houston, with three first- or second-team All-Pro selections on D, allowed just 175 yards and turned two turnovers into touchdowns against the hapless Steelers.

New England comes into this game on the heels of a sterling defensive performance as well, having held the Los Angeles Chargers to 207 yards and sacking Justin Herbert six times in a 16-3 win. But L.A. had a poor offensive line, which is not the case with the Texans.

Can Houston's defense slug it out well enough to pull off the upset? Several sports betting apps we checked have the over/under at 41 or 41.5 points.

Los Angeles Rams at Chicago Bears (6:30 p.m. Sunday, NBC)

Los Angeles was a huge road favorite last week as the No. 5 seed but barely survived at Carolina, topping the Panthers 34-31 by scoring the winning TD with 38 seconds to go.

Now the NFC's No. 2 seed, the Bears, await with frigid conditions forecast at Chicago's Soldier Field.

Chicago stunned the archrival Packers in the first round with an unlikely rally (the second in four weeks), advancing with a 31-27 victory over Green Bay after trailing 21-3 at halftime. The Bears led the league in takeaways (33) this season, yet they edged the Pack despite losing the turnover battle 2-0.

The Rams were favored by 3.5 points in early lines at most sportsbooks, but customers using the Caesars Sportsbook promo code can get the Bears at +4 on the spread.
