Martin will be called upon to lead the Cougars' offense in 2025, as last year's starting quarterback, Jake Retzlaff, has transferred to Tulane following some off-the-field issues this offseason. Martin made his mark on the field when healthy last season, rushing for 718 yards and seven touchdowns in 10 games. He ended the year with an impressive performance as the offensive MVP in the Alamo Bowl, a 36-14 win over Colorado. He'll be atop the depth chart ahead of teammates Sione Moa, Pokaiaua Haunga, and Enoch Nawahine. With the question marks at quarterback, expect BYU to lean heavily on the running game with a game plan centered around physicality in most weeks. Martin totaled 22 carries for 95 yards and three touchdowns during Saturday's 41-21 win versus UCF.
ANALYSIS
Martin put together another great performance Saturday, scoring a hat trick of touchdowns in the win over UCF. He gained 130 yards from scrimmage in the win as well, bringing him to nearly 400 yards and five touchdowns over just the last two games. Next up is a rematch with Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship game with a spot in the College Football Playoff on the line. Martin totaled 64 yards from scrimmage on 16 touches in Week 11 versus the Red Raiders and will likely need to do a lot more in order to secure the win this time around.
