Hesson completed just 35 percent of his passes as the RedHawks limped to a loss at the hands of Western Michigan for the MAC title. The gunslinger had played sparingly prior to his start in the championship game, and his uneven play continued. Hesson protected the ball through the air, but lost a fumble and couldn't orchestrate the offense effectively. It remains to be seen if Hesson or Thomas Gotkowski will start in Miami's bowl game against Fresno State.
