Solid outing in win
James completed 16 of 24 passes for 288 yards during Saturday's 34-12 win over Syracuse.
ANALYSIS
James' 288 passing yards were a season high, and it came as the Eagles got a cathartic win over Syracuse to at least close what's been a miserable season on a high note. The gunslinger had his most efficient start of the season, completing 66.7 percent of his passes on 12.0 yards per attempt. James had an up-and-down senior season with the Eagles, finishing with 1,196 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Mike McIntyre took over as Florida International’s head coach for 2022, and he turned the starting quarterback role over to James, a true sophomore he inherited. James was given a chance to show what he could do, with admittedly a bad roster around him, and it was a mixed bag at best. He finished the season throwing for 1,962 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Notably, seven of those touchdowns came against Bryant and Louisiana Tech. The former is an FCS team, and the latter had what was probably the worst defense in the FBS. For the season finale, McIntyre let Haden Carlson get a start. He too was a mixed bag, but against Middle Tennessee State he threw for 414 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. Does James even have the lead in this battle? If he does, how short is his proverbial leash? Perhaps the biggest question for fantasy-minded folks, does it even matter? In a new-look Conference USA featuring two teams fresh from the FCS, quite possibly.
