Mockobee (ankle) is out for the remainder of Purdue's 2025 season, Nathan Baird of IndyStarSports reports.

Mockobee underwent ankle surgery Friday, and the procedure requires so much time to recover that he must sit out the remainder of Purdue's 2025 season. Unfortunately for him, it also includes his last year of collegiate eligibility, which has been used considering he doubled more than the minimum four games. In eight, Mockobee logged 125 rushing attempts for 521 yards and four touchdowns. He also recorded 18 receptions (on 20 targets) for 215 yards and a receiving TD. For 2026, Mockobee's focus will have to shift towards either pro football or another subject.

Mockobee had a productive freshman year for Purdue, where he saw 195 carries, 968 yards, nine touchdowns on the ground and 32 receptions for 274 yards as a receiver. He was the lead back last season and ran at an efficient 5.0 yards per carry for the Boilermakers. There should be no reason to anticipate a less productive sophomore season, especially with a new coaching staff that could involve the ground game more. The sophomore could slightly upgrade his workload under the direction of Graham Harrell, whose running backs combined for more than 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns last year at West Virginia.
