Cartevious Norton

Norton entered the 2022 season as a candidate to be a breakout true freshman, however, injuries plagued him for much of the season and Iowa State averaged just 3.3 yards per carry which was near last in the Big 12 Conference. While Norton split carries with both Jirehl Brock and Eli Sanders last year, Norton was the featured back over their last five games with double-digit carries in each of those games. All three backs return in 2023, however, there are still some serious question marks at the offensive line position. Head Coach Matt Campbell did make numerous changes on the staff due to the poor offensive performance a year ago. The team also added Stanford transfer Arlen Harris at running back for more depth at the position. Norton did receive 20 targets in his debut season, so there’s reason to believe he can be a threat in a high-volume passing game as well.
