Braxton transferred from Marshall to Southern Miss for his fifth collegiate season, following Thundering Herd head coach Charles Huff, who'll hold the same role with the Golden Eagles. He threw for 1,624 yard and a 19:2 TD:INT ratio over just 11 games on the season (10 and change with minimal action against Ohio State), adding 134 carries for 610 yards and four scores as a rusher. He started the 2024 campaign behind Stone Earle on the depth chart and didn't fully surpass Earle until Week 8. From that point on, Braxton averaged 180 passing yards on 23.6 pass attempts along with 58.1 rushing yards. He logged a 12:2 TD:INT during that stretch. Marshall had been a run-first team throughout Huff's tenure, and his approach shouldn't change with Southern Miss.
