College Football DFS Picks: Saturday Championship Week FanDuel Main Slate

This article is part of our FanDuel College Football series.

It's Championship Saturday! Hopefully, you took a look at our Friday coverage and had a profitable night. I'll utilize our world-class college football player projections and our versatile CFB DFS optimizer to find our best options for Saturday's five-game FanDuel main slate.

CFB Championship Week FanDuel Main Slate Overview

My primary game plan going into Saturday's slate was simple. I wanted almost nothing to do with the Indiana-Ohio State game. I didn't care about what production I might be missing, I just wasn't comfortable about how things would shake out in his game. As you'll see, I spent most of my cash on Georgia, Virginia and Texas Tech. My picks may not e star-studded, but I tihink we have a grea foundation to work with.

Quarterback

Gunner Stockton, Georgia, ($9,000) vs. Alabama

I noticed Stockton's salary right away, and I don't see how you can get away from Stockton at this level when you consider how well he's played over the past month. Many are using the early loss to Alabama as a litmus test for how the game will go, but I think that's a mistake. The Bulldogs weren't playing their best earlier in the season, but they've gotten markedly better in almost every facet of the game, especially on defense. I think you can put Stockton right behind the defense when ranking Georgia's most improved game pieces. His numbers may not be exactly on par with some of the current Heisman hopefuls, but if you were just judging November, he'd be right there with Mendoza, Pavia and the rest. I'm personally on the Jeremiyah Love train for the trophy, but we all know how it goes with running backs and the Heisman.

Chandler Morris, Virginia ($9,500) vs. Duke

I have a feeling that some of my lineups might lean away from the quarterback in the S-FLEX, but I'll put Morris in here for good measure.  I share my feelings about the Wahoos in this game during this week's College Capper, explaining why I think UVA is in the best position to win. Unlike the Georgia-Alabama rematch, I think the November tangle between these two teams says a lot about this matchup. Morris was able to get the ball out of his hands and put together a balanced game on the way to a 17-point win. Virginia's defense had a lot to do with the victory as well, as they contained Darian Mensah effectively. If they can keep Mensah on his heels and keep Duke off the field, Morris should have plenty of scoring opportunities.

Running Back

Virginia's J'Mari Taylor ($11,000) is the ideal running back to use for this slate, but I have legitimate concerns about his salary. He's probably a better idea if you decide to roll with one quarterback and install Taylor in the S-Flex.

J'Koby Williams, TexasTech ($7,500) vs BYU

I would love to go with Cameron Dickey ($9,700), but we can't take too many players that high. I do think Williams is a suitable pivot if you factor in the last meeting against BYU. Dickey was the leading rusher, but Williams put on a show as well, outsnapping Dickey and logging 109 yards of total offense.

Nate Frazier, Georgia ($6,800) vs. Alabama

Georgia could ruin my entire weekend if they don't come through. When I look at Alabama, I don't see a playoff team, and there are too many metrics that are strong signals for Georgia. One element that's a world of difference between now and the early loss to the tide is Georgia's running game. The offensive line is playing its best football right now, and Frazier is getting most of the snaps. He only had four carries against Bama the first time around. E could triple that number in this week's battle.

Wide Receiver

Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State ($10,200) cs. Indiana

One of the main reasons for keeping costs down was to afford Smith, and although I've tried to stay away from this game, Smith's upside is irresistible. I freely admit that the Hoosiers will be ready for him, and it's one way you can justify taking Carnell Tate ($9,500), which is fine. If Tate were $8,500, I'd even recommend him over Smith, but their salaries aren't that far apart, and Smith has been a matchup-proof, team-best wideout for almost every game this season.

Omar Cooper, Indiana ($8,800) vs. Ohio State

Sometimes you have to gut-check your internal biases. Cooper was on my fantasy team his year, and I had to make sure I was picking him for the right reasons. It's hard to predict how Ohio State's defense will fare against Indiana, but I am sure that he'll get a healthy target share from Mendoza. All he needs is one busted coverage.

Trell Harris, Virginia ($7,500) vs. Duke

Here's everything you need to know about Harris in two sentences. He's Morris's favorite target. He had his best total of the year by a wide margin against Duke. What else is there to know? Oh - he's also well below the FanDuel median salary. All aboard to Valuetown!
