However, his path to minutes isn't clear after being selected by the Jazz with the No. 18 overall pick. Utah still has Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier, and Brice Sensabaugh has flashed upside as a shooter. Walter Clayton Jr. was born in Sebring, Florida, and attended Lake Wales High School before transferring to Bartow High School ahead of his junior year. While he also played football, Clayton Jr. led Bartow to the Florida Class 6A state championship in basketball in his first season. As a four-star recruit, he then committed to play college basketball at Iona, where he was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Year as a sophomore. For the 2023-24 season, Clayton Jr. transferred to Florida and earned Second-Team All-SEC honors as he led the Gators to the SEC Tournament Championship game. Although Clayton Jr. declared for the 2024 NBA Draft, he decided to return to Florida for the 2024-25 campaign. Clayton went scoreless in his last two outings, so it was encouraging to see him bounce back with a productive stat line, even though it came due to the blowout aspect of the game. The rookie was just recalled from the Jazz's G League team in Salt Lake City, and another trip may be imminent due to Utah's depth at the guard position.
