Taylor Hendricks

Memphis Grizzlies
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hendricks is entering his third year in the NBA, coming off a fractured right fibula and dislocated right ankle that limited him to the first three regular-season games (all starts) of the 2024-25 campaign. The No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft spent his rookie campaign bouncing between the G League and the parent club, averaging 7.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.8 blocks and 0.7 steals in 21.4 minutes per game over 40 regular-season appearances. However, he started his last 23 outings in 2023-24, during which he averaged 9.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.7 steals while shooting 40.4 percent from beyond the arc across 26.3 minutes per game. Following his serious injury, Hendricks' role remains unclear on a rebuilding Jazz squad. Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler should continue to start in the frontcourt. The team also drafted Rutgers standout Ace Bailey with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2025 Draft, and he should see significant playing time for the squad. Additionally, Cody Williams, Kyle Filipowski, Jusuf Nurkic and Georges Niang are all candidates to receive meaningful minutes in the frontcourt. Hendricks is a risky pick in fantasy drafts, but he does have considerable upside in the later rounds, especially if the Jazz continue to struggle and sit key players down the stretch. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Taylor Hendricks spent his freshman season at Central Florida, where he was named to the AAC All-Freshman team, as well as Second Team All-AAC. A four-star recruit who arrived at UCF as the highest-ranked player in school history, Hendricks averaged 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.7 blocks and 0.9 steals in 34 games as a freshman. He shot 47.8 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from three on 4.6 attempts per game. In his collegiate debut against UNC Asheville on Nov. 7, Hendricks went for 23 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks in 39 minutes. In a win over Tulsa on Feb. 26, Hendricks posted a season-high 25 points to go with eight rebounds, two blocks, a steal and three three-pointers. At 6-foot-9, Hendricks fits the mold of a modern NBA power forward who can also slide up and play center. His ability to both defend the rim and space the floor makes him a unique prospect and arguably the top power forward in the 2023 NBA Draft class. An excellent athlete with great length who effortlessly plays above the rim, Hendricks should be an above-average rebounder at the NBA level. He's also capable of handling the ball on the perimeter and initiating his own offense against certain matchups. Hendricks figures to hear his name called at some point in the mid-to-late lottery, but his landing spot will ultimately determine his upside for 2023-24. Regardless of which team selects him, Hendricks will likely be viewed as a high-upside future piece, but in the right situation he could be an instant-impact player. Given his size, athleticism and two-way ability, down the road Hendricks could develop into a player with shades of Jaren Jackson, Onyeka Okongwu or John Collins.

Hendricks (illness) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Saturday's game versus the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Hendricks sat out Wednesday's loss to the Trail Blazers due to an illness, but he'll be back in action Saturday, which will likely result in fewer minutes for GG Jackson. Hendricks has been inconsistent in Memphis, but he could be worth a dart throw in deep leagues if you need some points and rebounds.

After a sporadic start to his rookie season, Hendricks carved out a sizeable role down the stretch, thanks in large part to the fact the Jazz were eliminated from the postseason discussion. He started his final 23 games of the season, providing value on both ends of the floor. He was a top-120 player over the final two months, averaging 9.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 three-pointers and 1.8 combined steals and blocks. Coming into his sophomore season, it remains unclear as to what exactly Hendricks' role will look like. Despite trade rumors, Lauri Markkanen remains in Utah, along with John Collins and Walker Kessler. The Jazz also drafted Cody Williams and Kyle Filipowski, both of whom will be competing for backup minutes. If the coaching staff opts to start Collins at the center spot over Kessler, there is a world where Hendricks starts at the four, with Markkanen playing the three. Given any trade would likely open up more playing time for Hendricks, he warrants some attention in the final rounds of drafts as a potential upside play.

He's also capable of handling the ball on the perimeter and initiating his own offense against certain matchups. We didn't get to see Hendricks in Summer League due to a hamstring injury, so we'll have to wait until preseason to get a look at how Utah is interested in utilizing him. Still, a path to sizeable minutes isn't guaranteed. In addition to Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler and Kelly Olynyk returning in the frontcourt, the Jazz added John Collins in the offseason, who figures to get roughly 30 minutes per game. As a result, Hendricks may be relegated to a reserve role, though it's possible he sees minutes in the mid-20s. As of now, he's a more interesting target in dynasty leagues than redraft formats.

More opportunities coming?
FUtah Jazz
November 5, 2025
Hendricks said Wednesday that he's looking to help with Utah's rim protection in Walker Kessler's absence, Ryan Miller of KSL reports.
ANALYSIS
"Walker was a big part of our defense," Hendricks said. "That's another reason why we have to be more connected and be more communicative, because we're missing that big part." Hendricks averages 1.2 blocks per 36 minutes for his regular-season career, and he may find himself with more minutes with Kessler set to miss the entire season.
