Henderson's sophomore year was a mixed bag. He significantly improved his shooting efficiency and defense, and also cleaned up his turnovers. However, he saw fewer minutes per game and had decreased usage. Offensively, passing has emerged as his biggest strength. In his 26.7 minutes per game, he averaged 5.1 assists to 2.7 turnovers, plus 12.7 points and 1.6 threes on 42/35/77 shooting. Defensively, Henderson improved his steal rate and averaged 1.0 per game. There seems to be room for growth there, as he averaged nearly the same amount of deflections as Amen Thompson. During the offseason, the Blazers traded Anfernee Simons to the Celtics for Jrue Holiday. Deandre Ayton was also bought out and picked up by the Lakers. That should open up more usage and potentially more minutes for Henderson, though players like Shaedon Sharpe and Deni Avdija will also be vying for touches. There's still plenty of reason to take a chance on the No. 3 overall pick from 2023. Simply getting more minutes would be a significant boost to his fantasy value. And any meaningful improvement in his perimeter shooting could open up his offensive game entirely. However, he could miss about the first month or so of the season due to a hamstring tear. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Scoot Henderson played high school basketball at Carlton J. Kell High School, where he was a five-star recruit. As a junior, he averaged 32 points, seven rebounds and six assists and was selected Class 6A Player of the Year. Graduating at 17 years old, before his senior year, and joining the Ignite, he became the youngest player to ever play in the G League. He started 18 of his 19 appearances for the Ignite, averaging 16.5 points on 43/28/76 shooting, 6.5 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 30.7 minutes. In February of 2022, the guard appeared in the Rising Stars Challenge at NBA All-Star weekend. In October of 2022, he played a pair of exhibition games against Metropolitans 92, the French team that Victor Wembanyama plays for. Henderson is a hyper-athletic, traditionally-sized point guard with excellent feel for the game. He thrives with a head of steam in both transition and the halfcourt, searching to attack the rim. When he gets defenders on their heels, he can pull up from the mid-range with a jumper or runner. His vision in the pick-and-roll keeps all of his teammates involved and helps them get easy looks. Defensively, Henderson has the athleticism to launch himself into passing lanes or rise up for helpside blocks. There is star potential with Henderson, who understandably noted that one of his favorite players is Russell Westbrook - their games being similar, though Henderson may have more patience in the halfcourt. At 6-foot-2 with great playmaking ability, he's definitely a point guard, so the team selecting him very early in the draft should have ideas to give him the keys to the offense as a rookie.
Struggles despite spot start
GPortland Trail Blazers
March 5, 2026
Henderson closed with eight points (3-11 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, three assists and one steal across 24 minutes during Wednesday's 122-114 victory over Memphis.
ANALYSIS Henderson moved into the starting lineup for just the second time since returning from injury, although the promotion failed to improve what has been a tough couple of weeks. In seven appearances during that time, he has averaged just 11.4 points, 4.0 assists and 1.0 three-pointers, leaving him outside the top-300 players in nine-category leagues.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Damian Lillard was traded to the Bucks this offseason, but the silver lining of parting ways with a franchise icon is it clears the way for Henderson to take over at point guard. With Portland seemingly set to enter a multi-year rebuild, Henderson should have a long leash and be in line for a significant workload right away alongside fellow-high-upside young players Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe. Henderson has the talent to be the Blazers' offensive hub, though he'll cede plenty of possessions to Simons and Jerami Grant, who the Blazers signed to a lucrative extension this offseason. So while Henderson has the keys to the franchise long-term, he's not exactly walking into a barren wasteland of a roster. In terms of what fantasy managers should expect, Henderson will likely go through the usual rookie guard ups and downs: field goal percentage and turnovers could be an issue, as could both three-point (27.5% FG in the G League) and free-throw shooting (76% FT). Even so, Henderson should rack up counting stats with ease, making him even more appealing to managers in points leagues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could make season debut soon
GPortland Trail Blazers
January 29, 2026
Henderson, who's recovering from a left hamstring tear, could be in line to make his season debut in the near future, according to Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report.
ANALYSIS Henderson is in the final stage of his recovery and has begun taking part in full-contact practices. While he hasn't received the green light to play just yet, he's definitely trending in the right direction. "He's able to do some contact now," interim head coach Tiago Splitter said Thursday. "Getting better. I don't have a date for you yet, but he's doing a lot and feeling well after practice." Henderson averaged 12.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game in 66 regular-season appearances in 2024-25, and he should slot as Jrue Holiday's backup at point guard once he's cleared to see minutes.
