Aldama enjoyed a breakout 2024-25 season, averaging 12.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.9 three-pointers per game while shooting 48.3 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from three and 69.1 percent from the line in 25.5 minutes per night. His all-around production made him an important scoring punch off the bench and a versatile contributor in fantasy, resulting in a 10th-round valuation in standard nine-category leagues on a per-game basis. This offseason, Memphis locked him in with a three-year, $52.5 million extension, reaffirming his value to the club. With Desmond Bane departing in a trade, Aldama's importance could grow, both as a scoring option and a floor-spacing forward, especially given his improved playmaking and rebounding. With the team retaining its core of Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson and committing to youth and continuity, Aldama appears locked into a solid role off the bench or even an occasional spot start. Jackson could miss the beginning of the season due to turf toe, and Zach Edey (ankle) is considered questionable for Opening Night. Fantasy-wise, Aldams profiles as a dependable mid-tier forward, offering double-digit points, strong rebound and assist totals with decent shooting percentages. There's also upside for elevated production if his minutes and role expand further, depending on the health of Memphis' frontcourt. Read Past Outlooks

2021
Aldama was a pleasant surprise last season, playing a sizeable role for the Grizzlies. Although he ended outside the top 150 in nine-category leagues, there were periods throughout the season where he was certainly worthy of a roster spot across many formats. He finished with averages of 9.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks in 21.8 minutes per game. However, even with Ja Morant (suspension) and Brandon Clarke (Achilles) sidelined to begin the season, it's hard to see Aldama bringing much more to the table. He can provide some floor spacing as well as a small amount of defensive upside but doesn't do enough to be on the floor at key moments. His floor should be safe enough to justify being drafted in deeper formats, For those in standard leagues, there are going to be players with more upside toward the end of drafts.
With Jaren Jackson set to miss at least a couple of months due to injury, Aldama should be able to step into a slightly increased role. His rookie season provided a few highlights but nothing to get too excited about. Given the limited sample size, managers should simply adopt a wait-and-see approach to open the season. Despite Jackson being sidelined, Aldama will still have to contend with Brandon Clarke, Steven Adams and Xavier Tillman, all of whom are probably ahead of him in the rotation.
Aldama was selected by the Grizzlies with the 30th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. The 20-year-old played well in his sophomore year at Loyola (MD) as he averaged 21.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.0 steals in 35.0 minutes during 17 appearances. The center from Spain will likely take on a depth role behind Steven Adams and Xavier Tillman.

January 26, 2026
Multiple contending teams have recently expressed trade interest in Aldama, Evan Sidery of Forbes.com reports.
ANALYSIS Memphis, however, has little incentive to move him and would only engage if presented with a truly strong offer, especially with Aldama averaging a career-high 14.0 points this season. His contract, which runs through the 2027-28 season at roughly $17 million annually, further strengthens the Grizzlies' leverage and makes them comfortable holding firm unless blown away.
