Despite playing just 46 games during the 2024-25 season due to a hand injury, Jovic turned some heads with his style of play throughout the campaign. He finished with averages of 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.7 three-pointers in 25.1 minutes per game. The Heat opted to stand pat during the offseason, with the only notable acquisition being Norman Powell. This could result in Jovic stepping into a slightly larger role for the 2025-26 season, with a lot likely depending on the early-season results. While his upside in any one category is limited, his ability to play as a makeshift facilitator from the forward position is intriguing. Look for Jovic to replicate at least what he was able to do last season, with the possibility of slight improvements should his minutes increase closer to 30 at any point. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Nikola Jovic was born on June 9, 2003, in Leicester, England where his father Llija was playing professionally. At the age of nine, his family moved to Belgrade where Nikola participated in water polo for VK Partizan. He didn't begin playing basketball seriously until he was 13 and originally played guard before a growth spurt took him to just under 6-foot-11. Jovic was playing basketball for the KK Sava youth system before he joined the Mega Bemax youth system in 2018. He made a name for himself during the 2020-21 Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament in the Serbian capital Belgrade, where he came home with the MVP award, averaging 29.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.8 blocks in 28 minutes per game while shooting an efficient 66% from the field. After that tournament, he also participated in the 2021 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup, where he was a member of the Serbia U19 national team. Over seven tournament games, he averaged 18.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game and was named to the all-tournament team. During the 2021-22 season with Mega Bemax, Jovic averaged 11.7 points while shooting 42.8 percent from the field, 35.6 percent on threes and 75.4 percent from the free throw line, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists to 2.7 turnovers and 0.4 blocks per game in 25 appearances. After playing internationally, the Miami Heat selected him with the 27th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Dishes out six assists Saturday
FMiami Heat
December 7, 2025
Jovic finished Saturday's 127-111 loss to Sacramento with 12 points (4-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six assists, two rebounds and one steal across 31 minutes.
ANALYSIS After recording a DNP-CD in Friday's loss to Orlando, Jovic logged a season-high-tying 31 minutes with Tyler Herro (toe), Davion Mitchell (groin) and Pelle Larsson (hip) sidelined Saturday. Jovic wasn't extremely efficient but was still one of five Heat players to score in double figures. The 22-year-old forward also dished out a team- and season-high-tying six assists. Jovic has seen double-digit minutes just once through four games in December, so he isn't guaranteed significant minutes when the team is at full strength.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Jovic played just 15 games during his rookie season, providing very little in terms of tangible production. In 13.6 minutes per night, he averaged 5.5 points and 2.1 rebounds. Looking ahead to his sophomore campaign, there is little reason to think anything changes, at least from a minutes' perspective. Chances are, he suits up for more games, but that does not mean he will take any major steps forward. Kevin Love and Caleb Martin are both ahead of him in the rotation, while Orlando Robinson is coming off an impressive Summer League stint. He would need a couple of injuries to other players to have any chance at putting up fantasy-relevant numbers.
Jovic begins his career for a Heat team competing for a championship after being one shot away from the NBA Finals last season. The 2022 No. 27 pick is a bit of a project, especially after having an up-and-down Summer League. Jovic displayed his ability to stretch the floor, but his overall efficiency and decision-making were questionable. Considering how Coach Erik Spoelstra typically likes to lean on his veteran players, it is unlikely Jovic will receive significant and consistent minutes in his rookie season. However, the Heat are very thin in the frontcourt, so if an injury occurs to Bam Adebayo, Omer Yurtseven or Dewayne Dedmon, Jovic could become fantasy relevant.

ANALYSIS "When he plays with a force of will and an intention, it's always starting with him, and an approach every day, to approach a practice day and a shootaround and a film session like it's really important," Spoelstra said. "He's made improvements with that. It's still not where it needs to be, because he's young and doesn't see that it's always important. But he's getting there. And then it's a matter of consistency. But you can see the possibilities when he has that intention and things are important to him." Jovic hasn't lived up to the offseason hype thus far, but it sounds like Spoelstra is still a big believer. Through 13 games, he's averaging 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.1 three-pointers in 21.8 minutes per contest.
