Queta delivered solid efficiency and hustle in his 2024-25 role for Boston, averaging 5.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.7 blocks per game, while posting an impressive 65.0 percent mark from the field across 13.9 minutes per contest in 62 regular-season appearances. He also earned six starts, posting 9.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 blocks in 24.5 minutes. This offseason saw Boston shed significant interior pieces, including Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kornet and potentially Al Horford, leaving the team with limited frontcourt depth. As a result, Queta is poised to assume a much larger role, potentially leading a skeletal frontcourt alongside the newly acquired Luka Garza and veteran Chris Boucher. In fact, Queta is the presumed favorite to start on Opening Night. Queta's solid per-minute production and improved opportunity make him a sleeper worth monitoring as a potential breakout role-player, all at a very reasonable cost in the later rounds of drafts. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Neemias Esdras Barbosa Queta was born in Barreiro, Portugal in July of 1999. He is the son of Bissau-Guinean parents Mica and Djaneuba Queta. Queta began playing basketball at the age of 10 for F.C. Barreirense and would go on to play in two games in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol for S.L. Benfica. In August of 2018, he ended his career with Benfica, choosing instead to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level for Utah State. In his first season, the center averaged 11.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.4 blocks and was named both Mountain West Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Queta declared for the 2019 NBA Draft, but ultimately withdrew and returned to play at Utah State. He then led Portugal to a gold medal and earned all-tournament team honors in the 2019 FIBA U20 European Championship Division B, but suffered a left knee injury in the tournament semifinal that caused him to miss the first nine games of his sophomore season. Nevertheless, Queta earned Second Team All-Mountain West and All-Defensive Team honors and saw a jump in his scoring average with 13 points per game, but saw a slight dip in rebounds (7.8) and blocks (1.7). He improved in all three categories as a junior, averaging 14.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 blocks, and broke his own program single-season record for blocks with 94. Queta also earned First Team All-Mountain West honors, was once again named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and was one of four finalists for the 2021 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award. In March of 2021, he declared for the 2021 NBA Draft and chose to forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility, finishing as Utah State's all-time leader in blocks and blocks per game with 219 and 2.4 respectively. Queta became the first-ever Portuguese player to be drafted in the NBA when he was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 39th overall pick. In August of 2021, he signed a two-way deal to play for the Kings and their NBA G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings. Fans can follow Queta on Twitter @nemi1599.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
Queta was used sparingly during his rookie campaign, suiting up in just 14 games. However, he did manage to block 0.6 shots in just 8.5 minutes, meaning if he can somehow get to 20 minutes per game, he could have some limited streaming appeal. He should not be on anyone's fantasy radar to open the season, but if things go south for the Kings, he may step into a more prominent role down the stretch.
Queta was selected by the Kings with the 38th overall pick in 2021 NBA Draft and was later signed to a two-way deal. The 20-year-old was a dominant player during his junior season at Utah State, averaging 14.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 30.0 minutes per game. The 22-year-old projects as a developmental piece, but with his seven-foot frame, he has clear upside. The Kings currently have a group of talented, young bigs led by Richaun Holmes and Marvin Bagley, so it'll be difficult for Queta to crack the rotation. He'll spend plenty of time in the G League while on a two-way deal.

ANALYSIS While it would be a stretch to say Queta has been an irreplaceable player for Boston, the reality is that the team is much better with him than without him. The big man, who's dealing with an ankle injury, has started every game for the Celtics so far in the 2025-26 regular season, and Boston is outscoring opponents by 16.4 points per 100 possessions when he's on the floor. On the contrary, Boston has been outscored by 4.6 points per 100 possessions when he's not playing. The Celtics would definitely miss Queta if he's forced to miss time.
