On a top-heavy Knicks roster, McBride emerged as a spark plug off the bench during the 2024-25 season. He saw his role expand to 24.9 minutes per game in 64 regular-season appearances, resulting in career-highs across the board with 9.5 points, 2.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest. While the counting stats trended upward, the guard's efficiency dipped -- he shot 40.6 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line, each mark down roughly five percentage points from his breakout 2023-24 campaign. New York retained the majority of their key rotation pieces from last season, particularly on the perimeter, with star Jalen Brunson still leading the way alongside Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart. The front office also bolstered the roster's depth this offseason, adding Jordan Clarkson to the backcourt and Guerschon Yabusele to the frontcourt, while hoping Tyler Kolek develops into a reliable rotation piece in his sophomore year. McBride should remain an important reserve thanks to his plug-and-play skill set, capable of thriving whether he's asked to create his own offense, take on more scoring responsibility, or simply complement higher-usage teammates, all while bringing disruptive defense. However, Clarkson's arrival as a score-first presence could limit McBride's overall touches and cap his fantasy ceiling. Even so, he remains a key contributor for a Knicks team aiming for a championship, and McBride's real-life value to the roster should remain high even if his nightly statistical output is limited when the team is at full strength. Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2021
Despite a strong end to the 2023-24 season, McBride struggled to find a consistent role. However, that could change with Donte DiVincenzo no longer in the picture. The Knicks battled late-season injuries last year, forcing McBride to step up and start nine consecutive games in Jalen Brunson's absence. McBride tallied at least 20 points on four separate occasions over the final month, providing managers with a glimpse of what is possible. When considering the season as a whole, McBride's output was modest, at best, ending as the 242nd-ranked player in standard formats. Not only will the Knicks be healthy heading into the 2024-25 season, but they also added Mikal Bridges, re-signed OG Anunoby and acquired Karl-Anthony Towns in exchange for Julius Randle and DiVincenzo. McBride should be able to hold onto a spot in the rotation but could very well top out at about 18 minutes per game. He is someone to keep an eye on, just in case Tom Thibodeau's tendency to run his starters into the ground results in injuries once again. If and when that time comes, McBride could very well step into a larger role, much like he did down the stretch last year.
McBride was selected by the Knicks with the 36th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. A relentless defender at the college level, McBride resembles another former West Virginia standout, Jevon Carter, in many ways. Like Carter, McBride is a bit undersized, but he makes up for it with toughness, quickness and athleticism. McBride averaged 15.9 points per game and shot 41.4 percent from three-point range as a sophomore last season, but if he's going to stick in the NBA, it will be because of his defense.

Mike Brown gives him accolades
GNew York Knicks
November 6, 2025
Knicks coach Mike Brown liked what he saw from McBride in Wednesday's win over the Timberwolves, Jared Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS "Deuce was aggressive the right way," Brown said. "He played under control. If they tried to pick up full-court, he drove it by them. He touched the paint. He played off two feet and he sprayed it. And guys got great looks when he got us into our offensive sets." McBride had 14 points, four assists, three rebounds, one steal and a pair of three-pointers in 21 minutes, and he continues to be one of Brown's most trusted players with the second unit.
