Jones remains an intriguing player with immense potential despite mixed results during his senior season at Marquette. After shooting a career-high 40.6 percent from deep on 6.5 attempts per game as a junior, Jones hit a career-worst 31.1 percent on 6.1 three-point attempts a night as a senior. However, he still averaged 19.2 points per game. Jones also dished out 5.9 assists per game in 2024-25 after never averaging more than 2.5 in each of his first three seasons. The lefty point guard was taken with the No. 38 overall pick by the Pacers, who'll be without their All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton for the entire 2025-26 campaign. Despite the massive hole in the backcourt, Jones won't be stepping into a guaranteed role as a rookie. Andrew Nembhard and Bennedict Mathurin will start, with T.J. McConnell, Ben Sheppard and Johnny Furphy as the top returning backups. Jones will have to earn everything with strong play, but there's a reality where he flashes fantasy relevance at some point as a rookie. Read Past Outlooks
$Signed a three-year, $5.95 million contract with the Pacers in July of 2025. Contract includes $2.74 million team option for 2028-29.
Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Kam Jones grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and boxed in addition to having a strong high school basketball career, being named Tennessee Mr. Basketball (Division II A). He committed to play collegiately at Marquette. He made the Big East All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2022, starting seven of his 31 appearances. Jones became a full-time starter as a sophomore, averaging 15.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 46/36/66 - earning him a spot on the All-Big East Second Team. He attended the Damian Lillard Formula Zero Elite Camp in 2023 and the CP3 Elite Guard Camp in 2024. He averaged 17.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals as a junior. As a senior, Jones continued to improve his stats and averaged 19.2 points on 48/31/65 shooting, 5.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 33.8 minutes. He was named Consensus All-American Second Team. Jones plays with the ball in his hands, making up for his below-the-rim athleticism by using excellent footwork, physicality and repertoire of moves to free himself from the defense. He evolved as a passer during his four years at Marquette, notably posting a 5.9 assist to 1.9 turnover ratio as a senior. That said, he doesn't always have to have the ball in his hands and is a proven spot-up shooter with room to improve his free-throw percentage. On defense, Jones plays hard and likes to pressure. Jones could fill a sixth-man role easily due to his combo-guard skillset. His true outcome and role may be determined by how much further he develops as a shooter, passer or defender. All three skills have a working baseline, but there's fluidity. He may share playstyles with Isaiah Collier, Eric Bledsoe and Emmanuel Mudiay.

ANALYSIS "When he goes in games, good things happen," Carlisle said. "That's something that I got to consider. He had a rough start of the season missing two months. ... I see good things. I like his spirit. I like his energy." Jones has just six appearances to his name this season, but he could get an opportunity in the short term with Bennedict Mathurin sidelined by a thumb sprain.
