From Jan. 14 through April 3, Edwards averaged 11.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals in 29.8 minutes per game on 45/37/71 shooting splits for the injury-depleted 76ers. Philadelphia declined Edwards' team option for 2025-26 but signed the 21-year-old to a three-year deal this offseason. While Edwards had some bright moments last season, he'll be buried on the depth chart when everyone is healthy. Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Joel Embiid will dominate the touches, while Quentin Grimes, VJ Edgecombe, Kelly Oubre and Jared McCain compete for the other two starting spots. The 76ers also have veterans Kyle Lowry and Eric Gordon available for reserve minutes. That leaves Edwards fighting for playing time with Trendon Watford, Johni Broome and Adem Bona. Edwards doesn't need to be drafted, but if things fall apart in Philadelphia again, he'd be in line for more developmental minutes in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks
$Signed a two-year, $4.46 million contract with the 76ers in July of 2025. Contract includes $2.62 million team option for 2027-28.
Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Edwards grew up in Philadelphia and attended Imhotep Institute Charter High School. As a sophomore, he helped Imhotep win the Philadelphia city championship. In his junior year, he played in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League and led his high school to a state championship. The following year, Edwards participated in the 2023 McDonald's All-American Game and was selected to play for Team USA in the Nike Hoops Summit. His outstanding senior season led him to be named Mr. Pennsylvania Basketball while leading Imhotep to back-to-back state championships. Going into college, Edwards was a consensus five-star recruit and ranked third overall in the 2023 recruiting class. He eventually committed to Kentucky and made 30 starts as a freshman. The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 8.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per contest. Edwards was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on February 26 after he scored a career-high 28 points on a perfect 10-for-10 shooting from the field against Alabama. Edwards possesses the ideal size, length and athleticism for a forward in the modern NBA. Offensively, he has shown to be a reliable spot-up shooter with the ability to attack closeouts. He can also use his athleticism to get out in transition and finish strong at the rim. Defensively, Edwards is able to use his length to bother perimeter shooters and create turnovers. Edwards' game is reminiscent of Amir Coffey and GG Jackson as long wings who are able to use their athletic ability to leverage the threat of their outside shot into attacks at the rim. Edwards projects to be a capable scorer at the next level whose skill set will complement a primary playmaker. He also possesses the tools to be a versatile defender.
Out of rotation in playoff opener
FPhiladelphia 76ers
April 16, 2026
Edwards (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Wednesday in the 76ers' 109-97 win over the Magic in the Play-In Tournament.
ANALYSIS Edwards had appeared in the 76ers' final five games of the regular season and averaged 5.0 points in 13.2 minutes, but he ended up being a casualty of head coach Nick Nurse tightening up his rotation for the start of the playoffs. Unless Philadelphia loses a key player to an injury during its first-round series with the Celtics, Edwards' appearances may be largely limited to garbage-time scenarios.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Set for minimal role in playoffs?
FPhiladelphia 76ers
April 1, 2026
Edwards is seen as one of the players who might not see the court much for the 76ers during the upcoming 2026 NBA playoffs, Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer speculates.
ANALYSIS The Sixers are deep when it comes to their forward depth, and in addition to Paul George, the likes of Kelly Oubre, Dominick Barlow and Quentin Grimes are ahead of Edwards in the rotation. Unless the Sixers decide to go with a rotation of nine of 10 players, which is very unlikely in the postseason, Edwards doesn't seem to be in a good spot to see heavy minutes once the playoffs start.
