After two seasons in Boston with minimal usage, Walsh has an opportunity for meaningful minutes in 2025-26. But the question remains whether Walsh's high motor on defense can compensate for his poor shooting. The 21-year-old appeared in 52 games for the C's last season but only averaged eight minutes per contest. Walsh played in only one G League game last season, which might have been a missed opportunity. His shot needs work. The forward shot 43.3 percent from the field during his lone college season at Arkansas. In 2023-24, Walsh hit 43.5 percent from the field in the G League. With the Celtics last season, he drained only 36.1 percent of his shots. Walsh is also a poor free-throw shooter, which is not a good sign. The energetic forward is too young to write off, but this could be a critical season for Walsh to prove he's more than bench fodder. With Jayson Tatum injured (Achilles), Kristaps Porzingis traded and Al Horford possibly retiring, Boston is woefully thin at the power forward and center positions. Despite being only 6-foot-7, Walsh could see time at the four. But he'll need to improve his offensive skills to seize the opportunity in front of him. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Jordan Walsh spent his first and only collegiate season playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks. As a freshman, he started in 22 of his 36 appearances and averaged 7.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals. The forward helped lead the Razorbacks to a Sweet 16 appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Before Arkansas, Walsh was a five-star and consensus top-25 recruit out of high school. He played his first three seasons at Faith Family Academy in Dallas, Texas, before transferring to Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, for his senior year. Walsh was selected to play in the 2022 McDonald's All-American Boys Game and the Jordan Brand Classic. Walsh has impressive size and athleticism for a modern-day forward. He has a good feel of when to cut and is a relentless finisher at the rim. His length allows him to bother opponents all over the floor and create turnovers. Walsh's skillset has shades of Jonathan Kuminga and Tari Eason. His elite athleticism and length give him the potential to be a top-tier defender in the NBA. Being one of the younger prospects in the draft, it will likely take time for him to see consistent minutes and be a high-level contributor.
Improved performance in loss
FBoston Celtics
January 12, 2026
Walsh ended with six points (3-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist and three steals across 26 minutes during Monday's 98-96 loss to Indiana.
ANALYSIS Walsh logged 26 minutes in the loss, which is the most he has played in his past five games. After a stint in the starting lineup, Walsh has since been reduced to a limited role off the bench. In four games over the past week, Walsh has averaged just 1.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 16.0 minutes per game. Given the uncertainty in Boston, there is no reason to consider Walsh a pickup based on this effort.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Walsh was Boston's only selection from the 2023 Draft. The organization hopes the energetic second-round pick can replace some of the defensive versatility they lost when Grant Williams left for Dallas. Whether Walsh can eventually hit corner threes like Williams is up for debate. At only 19 years of age, there is a wide range of possible outcomes for the 6-foot-7 forward. During his one season at Arkansas, he displayed a high motor that could dominate on the defensive end. But the Razorback's offensive skills are raw, as demonstrated by his 43.3 percent shooting from the field and 71.2 percent from the charity stripe. Expect the Celtics to let Walsh develop his game via many trips to the G League Maine Celtics, especially early in the season. The young forward had a strong Summer League, where he delivered 16.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and one steal in 27 minutes per game over five contests. Walsh signed a four-year deal with the C's, who possess a strong roster, so Boston can be patient with his development.

Takes demotion in stride
FBoston Celtics
January 5, 2026
Walsh said he's not overly concerned about his recent move to the bench, Jay King of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS "I feel like the other team has to feel me. The other staff has to feel me," Walsh said. "The other organization has to feel me. Every time I'm on the court, I've got to constantly make it hard for everybody else to kind of survive on the other team. I feel like I hadn't been doing that. So, I've got to make sure that I am doing that." To Walsh's credit, he responded in a positive way Saturday against the Clippers, posting a double-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and one block in 30 minutes.
