The Grizzlies traded Huff to the Pacers this offseason, so the big man will be on his fifth team in five years. Prior to last season, Huff had never appeared in more than 20 regular-season games during a single campaign. With so many injuries ahead of him, Huff played in 64 regular-season games for the Grizzlies, averaging 6.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.9 blocks and 1.3 made three-pointers while posting 52/41/79 shooting splits. His playing time wasn't consistent, but he certainly flashed upside, including a 22-point, six-block outing during the regular-season finale. As the new guy in town, Huff will have to earn his playing time. However, with Myles Turner now in Milwaukee, there are major minutes available, and the 7-foot-1 Huff is the only true center on the roster healthy heading into training camp. Isaiah Jackson got a three-year extension this offseason but tore his Achilles in November of 2024, and it's unclear if he'll be available to start the campaign. James Wiseman is also recovering from a torn Achilles, while Tony Bradley, Obi Toppin and Jarace Walker are undersized when playing the five. Huff has never held a consistent NBA role in his career, so even if he is the Pacers' starting center to open the campaign and plays well, there'll be questions about how long he can maintain it and how much his role will be reduced when Jackson and Wiseman are healthy. Either way, Huff's unicorn ability to block shots and make threes gives him immense fantasy upside, especially in category leagues. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Jay Huff was born in August of 1998 in Durham, North Carolina. The 7-1 center is the son of Mike and Kathy Huff, two former college basketball players. His father played for Pacific Lutheran University while his mother played for West Virginia. Huff attended Voyager Academy and became the all-time leading scorer in school history. Huff led his team to the state title game, winning most valuable player honors. He averaged 16.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists during his senior season. He then committed to the University of Virginia where he redshirted his freshman season. Through his first two collegiate seasons, Huff battled injury and only averaged 4.4 points. During his junior year, Huff averaged 8.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and two blocks per game, including a game in which he recorded 10 blocks against Duke. Huff came back for his senior season and averaged 13.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks. He then went undrafted but joined the Washington Wizards for the 2021 summer league.

March 5, 2026
Huff notched 18 points (7-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one block in 25 minutes during Wednesday's 130-107 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS Huff seems to have a tight grip on the starting center role in Indiana, at least until Ivica Zubac (ankle) is ready to make his Pacers debut. Huff has started in all but one of the Pacers' last 13 games, averaging a solid line of 11.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the floor. Huff has scored in double digits eight times in that span.

Huff put together the best scoring performance of his career Friday against New Orleans, finishing with 29 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 29 minutes.
ANALYSIS The game seems to be slowing down for Huff as he becomes more comfortable in Indiana's rotation. "Huff's getting better just at understanding where he needs to be," said teammate Pascal Siakam, per Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star. "Continuing to run the floor, get some good rolls. He's a shooter, so sometimes I think he forgets that he's seven feet, you know? So get down there. Get some of those dunks, those tricky ones - he owes me an assist today too for that missed dunk he had - but naw, I think he's playing free, shooting open shots, running hard and playing hard and getting those rolls and he's able to get buckets." Coach Rick Carlisle also had plenty of praise for the big man after Friday's stellar showing, noting "there's growth with his connection with his teammates. He's feeling the game that we play better and better all the time."
