Coming off a solid 2023-24 season, Thomas was expected to be the No. 1 option on offense after Mikal Bridges was traded to the Knicks during the offseason. Thomas showed off his scoring chops early in the 2024-25 season, scoring 30-plus points in six of his first 17 games while averaging 24.7 points on 46.1 percent shooting and 38.9 percent from three. However, the prolific scoring guard was bothered by a left hamstring strain in late November, which impacted his shooting efficiency for the rest of the season and forced him to miss 56 of the Nets' final 64 games. It's also worth noting, despite his hamstring issues and shoot-first mentality, that Thomas averaged a career-high 3.8 assists per game, which should make him more appealing to fantasy managers. A full offseason should be enough for him to enter training camp with a clean bill of health, and even with the addition of Michael Porter, Thomas should still get the lion's share of usage on offense. With that said, Thomas had to settle for a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer from the Nets this offseason and will have a full no-trade clause until he hits unrestricted free agency next offseason. He'll have immense pressure to produce a big season and get paid in the summer. On the flip side, the Nets won't be incentivized to play him heavy minutes and let him run the offense since he's operating on a small deal, can't be traded and likely won't be returning to Brooklyn in 2026-27. Thomas is a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks

2021
On the whole, it was another underwhelming season for Thomas, ending as the 351st-ranked player in nine-category leagues. In 16.6 minutes per night, he averaged 10.6 points, adding very little else. Herein lies the problem with Thomas. He has proven himself to be a competent scorer, delivering multiple 40-point games last season. The issue is that he offers basically nothing else when he is on the floor. This was highlighted by the fact that he was not even a part of the regular rotation to close last season, despite the team having parted ways with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Thomas should be in the discussion for playing time again this season but will be battling the likes of Ben Simmons, Spencer Dinwiddie, Mikal Bridges and Dennis Smith for playing time. He is not worth drafting outside of deeper formats but is someone to monitor closely should he be able to diversify his game to the point where he forces the coaching staff to give him minutes.
It's all about opportunity for Thomas, who, despite a few flashes during his rookie season, finished well outside the top 300 per game in eight-category roto leagues. When handed a significant role, Thomas flaunted his offensive ability, scoring at least 20 points in six of eight games during a stretch in February. He ended his first season in the league with averages of 8.5 points and 2.4 rebounds. Based on what we have seen, Thomas would need Kevin Durant and/or Kyrie Irving to be traded to have a shot at consistent fantasy value. While this could certainly happen at some point in the near future, as of right now, he is not on the radar for anyone preparing for an early fantasy draft.
Thomas was selected by the Nets with the 27th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Thomas was a high-volume scorer for LSU as a freshman, averaging 23.0 points per game in addition to 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He's expected to be a pure scorer at the NBA level, as he doesn't excel anywhere else. Notably, he was named co-MVP of the 2021 Summer League. He averaged 27.0 points on 42/36/85 shooting splits. While he recorded nearly twice as many turnovers (3.8) as assists (2.0), he made up for it with his scoring. With the Nets this season, Thomas figures to compete with Patty Mills and Jevon Carter for reserve minutes in the backcourt.

Days numbered in Brooklyn
GBrooklyn Nets
January 20, 2026
Thomas' time with the Nets is almost certainly drawing to a close, with the team expected to try and move him by the trade deadline before he leaves in free agency this offseason, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS The 24-year-old guard is currently dealing with a minor hamstring issue, but that shouldn't have an impact on the market for his services at the deadline. Thomas does have what amounts to a no-trade clause after accepting his one-year, $6 million qualifying offer in September, but he's lost his spot in the starting lineup for the Nets and his production has declined when he has been on the court. Thomas may not use the de facto NTC if he decides he needs a better opportunity elsewhere to showcase his skills ahead of free agency.
