As a rookie last season, Scheierman split his time between the Association and the G League. With Boston, the wing appeared in 31 games and averaged a modest 3.6 points over 12.4 minutes per game. With the G League Maine Celtics, Scheierman excelled, producing 20.4 points, 6.2 boards, 5.2 dimes, 1.6 steals and 3.7 made threes over 34.3 minutes per contest. As an old (25 years) NBA sophomore, the Creighton product has a blossoming opportunity in Boston. Financial flexibility forced the C's to trade both Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. And star forward Jayson Tatum will miss this upcoming season due to an Achilles injury. That frees up a lot of minutes for Scheierman and Boston's other reserves. The Celtics are particularly thin at power forward and center, which means Coach Joe Mazzulla could roll out many small-ball lineups. Players like Scheierman, Sam Hauser and Jordan Walsh might wind up getting minutes outside of their traditional positions. Scheierman's NBA game count and minutes per contest should increase this season. How much of an increase will depend on the wing's ability to hit threes, guard multiple positions and keep the ball moving. Scheierman's G League numbers hint at an ability to do all three things well. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Scheierman played five years at the college level for two different programs. He spent his first three years with South Dakota State in the Summit League before transferring to Creighton to compete in one of the country's toughest conferences in the Big East. Scheierman started in each of his appearances in the last three seasons, and he had his best season in 2023-24, averaging a career-high 18.5 points while adding 9.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists across a career-high 36.8 minutes per contest. He was named to the 2023-24 All-Big East First Team. Scheierman will be a wing at the next level, though it remains to be seen whether he'll be more utilized as a shooting guard or a small forward. He's equally adept at playing both positions, though he possesses above-average size if deployed in the backcourt. He proved to be a versatile, do-it-all kind of player during his last two years in college. While being a jack-of-all-trades type of player should boost his draft stock, he also turned heads due to his offensive arsenal, particularly his deep shooting range and his efficiency from beyond the arc. His size allows him to profile as an above-average rebounder for a guard, though he's not on a Josh Hart level. He hasn't been able to develop too much on the defensive end of the court, and since he's not an elite athlete, he could have problems defending quick guards and bigger players. However, he's an excellent shooter with a deep offensive skill set, and that should be enough to carve him a role in today's NBA. Scheierman has excellent size for a shooting guard and an above-average shooting form, which should be enough to give him a role in today's NBA. However, projecting his future role will be tied to what he can do defensively. If he develops enough to be at least average defensively, then his shooting could take him a long way, even becoming a regular starter - similar to Kevin Huerter. However, if his defensive game doesn't get up to speed, then his role will be less clear and could be limited to a spot shooter, which might limit the longevity of his career in the long run.
ANALYSIS Scheierman has started in 16 games this season, all of which have come in the Celtics' last 24 games. However, the second-year pro will revert to a bench role for Friday's contest due to the much-anticipated return of Jayson Tatum (Achilles). Scheierman should continue to serve in a meaningful role as a reserve, especially with Jordan Walsh (illness) sidelined for Friday's contest. Since the All-Star break, Scheierman has averaged 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 threes over 27.6 minutes per game.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could have option picked up
FBoston Celtics
October 25, 2025
The Celtics are likely to pick up Scheierman's contract option for the 2026-27 season, Brian Robb of MassLive speculates.
ANALYSIS The Celtics must decide whether to pick up Scheierman's option before the end of October, and it could be a low-cost gamble for a team that's still operating under budget constraints. The same can't be said about Scheierman's option for his final rookie year in 2027-28, as that would have to happen depending on other factors.
