The No. 11 overall pick in 2024, Bona didn't have much of a role to begin his rookie campaign. However, with Joel Embiid being limited to 19 games, coach Nick Nurse needed to figure out a big man situation. Bona started getting more run in December, January and February - routinely seeing minutes in the low-to-mid teens. Once the season fell apart completely in March and April, Bona was given a starter's role and averaged 13.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.1 steals in 28.9 minutes across his final 15 appearances, which also coincided with Andre Drummond missing time. Early indications on Embiid's recurring knee issues haven't been positive, and fantasy managers probably shouldn't trust him to play 55 games. That means there will be plenty of points throughout 2025-26 where Bona sees significant minutes at center. There's still a question of how big his workload will be compared to Andre Drummond's, though Drummond will be 33 years old before the start of the season and hasn't been as healthy as he was to begin his career. There's a best-case scenario where Bona averages minutes in the low-to-mid-20s based on absences to Embiid, Embiid playing fewer minutes in general, and Drummond declining. Fantasy managers in standard leagues don't have to draft Bona, given the amount of dominoes that would have to fall, but those in two-center leagues and deeper formats should keep him on the radar. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Bona started in all but one of his 66 appearances for UCLA during his two-year career with the Bruins. While he was a highly productive player for the Bruins, his game took a massive jump between his freshman and sophomore seasons, particularly on the offensive end of the court. He averaged 7.7 points and 5.3 rebounds across 22.9 minutes per game in his first year with the program, but those numbers bumped to 12.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.8 blocks across 26.5 minutes per game as a sophomore. However, Bona saw a drastic decrease in efficiency, as he shot 67.5% from the field as a freshman but "only" 58.8% in his second. Bona was named the 2022-23 Pac-12 Rookie of the Year, and he was also named to the 2023-24 All-Pac-12 First Team. Bona also got recognized as the 2023-24 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Bona is an explosive and quick player on both ends of the court. That works in his favor on the offensive side of the ball as he can stretch the floor and drive to the rim despite being a non-factor as an outside shooter. He's also one of the most efficient rim finishers in the country, and that'll likely be his bread and butter at the next level, especially if the shooting doesn't improve. He's also a better passer than he's given credit for. Bona is a bit undersized to play power forward at the next level, but he compensates for his lack of length with his explosiveness and mobility. Bona shouldn't have issues handling the physicality of playing against tougher or taller opponents. Other areas of improvement are his tendency to commit fouls and lack of activity on the glass, two areas in which he needs to work to improve his NBA profile as a non-shooting big man. Bona is ready to make an impact at the NBA level with his defensive ability as he has the explosiveness, bulk and mobility to be a competent defender even if he's not the best rebounder and if he fails to read coverages properly at times. His offensive game still needs work, but Bona can be effective as a backup big man in his rookie year at the next level. His work on his offensive game will ultimately determine if he can be an NBA-caliber starting big man, but the potential and physical traits are there.

Bona finished with four points (1-1 FG, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and one block over 22 minutes during Tuesday's 121-102 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS Bona offered very little yet again, basically summing up his season to this point. While there had been some hope he would step into a sizable role following a knee injury to Andre Drummond, those hopes were dashed when Drummond returned to the lineup almost immediately. Even with Joel Embiid (knee) missing time, Bona should be treated as a blocks specialist and nothing more.

ANALYSIS Valued at $1.9 million, this decision was seemingly a no-brainer for the 76ers. Bona comfortably won the backup center job over Andre Drummond in training camp, and he's likely to get a handful of starts this season on the nights in which Joel Embiid is out for maintenance or a potential injury. Bona made 58 regular-season appearances as a rookie for the 76ers, finishing with averages of 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, 0.5 assists and 0.4 steals per game.
