In fantasy basketball, hot streaks, NBA injury replacements, and role changes can create short-term value that savvy managers exploit. Whether you're streaming for the day or hunting potential long-term contributors, understanding why these players are surging (and whether it's real) is essential. Let's break down if you should add these players to climb up the fantasy basketball rankings.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Today's 3 Most-Added Players on Yahoo

Jordan Walsh, Celtics

Jordan Walsh is the latest "must-add" for managers chasing short-term production, and on paper, his recent surge looks undeniable. Across his past four games, Walsh has averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 28 minutes. The problem, of course, is that his shooting splits during this stretch are not just unsustainable -- they're historically absurd: 85% from the field and 67% from three.

Those percentages are completely fake, and managers should expect a sharp correction. In fact, the most realistic projection for the next week or two may be closer to 7 points per game, with production relying more on hustle stats than scoring efficiency.

But that doesn't mean Walsh is irrelevant. The encouraging sign is that Boston has given him the starting power forward job—at least temporarily. His rebounding energy and defensive disruptiveness feel legitimate and should translate even when the hot shooting dries up.

Fantasy Recommendation:

  • 12-team leagues: Good one- or two-day streamer, especially if you need steals and boards.
  • 16-team leagues: Should be on watchlists everywhere and may be worth a speculative add.
  • Rest-of-season: Role-dependent; scoring regression will be sharp.

Cam Spencer, Grizzlies

If the Spencer brothers are the new Plumlees—just better. With Ja Morant expected to remain out today, Spencer holds real short-term streaming value. Over his past eight games, he's averaged 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 assists on remarkably efficient shooting: 56% from the field, 51% from three, and 93% at the line.

Spencer's combination of passing, off-ball scoring, and smart decision-making makes him a natural fit in Memphis' current rotation. The big question is how things look once Morant returns. There's no avoiding a usage and minutes drop when a star reclaims his workload.

That said, Morant has a long history of missing games, and Spencer appears to have carved out a role that won't entirely disappear. Even at reduced volume, the efficiency and assist upside could keep him relevant on a game-to-game streaming basis.

Fantasy Recommendation:

  • 12-team leagues: Stream when Morant is out; reassess on Morant's return.
  • 14–16 team leagues: Possibly worth holding; long-term streamer with upside.
  • Rest-of-season: Usage dip coming, but value won't evaporate entirely.

Robert Williams III, Trail Blazers

If you need big-man defensive stats, Robert Williams III remains one of the most impactful per-minute players in the league. Over his past six appearances, he has averaged 8 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and a massive 3.3 blocks in only 21 minutes. He's also shooting 69% from the field, a number fully aligned with his career norms as a hyper-efficient inside finisher.

Williams' availability has always been the core issue. He's not playing in back-to-backs, he has a long injury history, and coaches tend to keep his minutes relatively low. But there are positive signs: per-possession rebounding and rim protection have improved compared to the start of the year, he's drawing more fouls, and his plus-minus metrics look better as well.

The presence of Donovan Clingan complicates matters, but even with Clingan healthy, Williams hasn't been truly outplayed. The minutes may fluctuate, but the fantasy categories he provides—boards, FG%, blocks—can swing weekly matchups.

Fantasy Recommendation:

  • 12-team leagues: Fringe must-roster depending on team needs; elite for blocks.
  • 16-team leagues: Probably should not be sitting on a waiver wire.
  • Rest-of-season: Risky but valuable; role will remain steady if health allows.
