Fantasy Basketball Trade Targets: Buy Low on De’Aaron Fox & Deandre Ayton

While the NBA trade deadline is still over a month away, there is plenty of wheeling and dealing to do right now in fantasy basketball. Determining which players might be the best targets in trade discussions can sometimes be difficult. Here are some players to consider buying low on, selling high on or who are worth holding onto in fantasy at this time.

Fantasy Basketball Buy-Low Players

De'Aaron Fox, San Antonio Spurs

It has been a quiet scoring stretch for Fox, who has provided 14 or fewer points in four of his last six games. During that six-game span, he has only shot 43.0% from the field and 63.2% from the charity stripe. The good news is, the veteran guard still averaged 4.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.0 steals over the six games.

Fox has shot 47.6% from the field for the season and 80.5% on his free throws, so don't read too much into his recent struggles. While his production is down from his time with the Kings, he still averages 21.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 three-pointers for the season. Teams can't focus on trying to slow him down with all of the talent around him on the Spurs, which helps him get more quality looks. He'll break out of his shooting slump sooner rather than later, so see if you can acquire him at a discount before that happens.

Teams can't focus on trying to slow him down with all of the talent around him on the Spurs, which helps him get more quality looks. He'll break out of his shooting slump sooner rather than later, so see if you can acquire him at a discount before that happens.

Deandre Ayton, Los Angeles Lakers

Ayton recently missed two games with an elbow injury. Over four games since making his return, he has averaged just 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds. He didn't attempt more than nine shots in any of the four games. For the season, he is averaging a career-low 9.7 shot attempts per game. However, he has helped offset that by shooting 70.6% from the field.

The Lakers are thin up front, so Ayton is locked into plenty of playing time. With him logging 29 minutes a night, he has averaged 14.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game for the season. He's going to be a double-double threat on a nightly basis, and he plays with two of the best passers in the league in Luka Doncic and LeBron James. With a lot of easy baskets coming his way, he comes with a high floor in fantasy.

Fantasy Basketball Sell-High Players

Pascal Siakam, Indiana Pacers

Siakam has stepped up with Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) out for the season. He is averaging 23.4 points per game, which is up from his average of 20.2 points a night last season. In addition to his scoring contributions, Siakam is averaging 6.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.8 three-pointers. He has been everything that fantasy managers who drafted him hoped for, and then some. He has also missed just one game.

The problem here is that the Pacers are 6-27, which is the worst record in the NBA. As losses continue to pile up, they could decide the best move for them is to tank to get a high selection in the 2026 Draft. If they do that, Siakam could see ample rest days down the stretch. He's playing right now and performing well, so it might be wise to try and trade him before rest days come into play.

Cam Thomas, Brooklyn Nets

A hamstring injury has limited Thomas to only 10 games this season. He made his return Saturday against the Timberwolves, then played again Monday against the Warriors. While he only logged 20 minutes versus the Timberwolves, he scored 30 points. The Warriors limited him to 13 points over 19 minutes.

The Nets are rebuilding, so there's no need for them to rush Thomas right back into heavy minutes. Rest days could also be a factor as the Nets try to improve their draft positioning. Last season, Thomas played a total of seven games after January 1st. He's healthy and playing right now, so if he's still on your roster, see if you can move him for anyone who can provide more reliable value to your squad down the stretch.

Hold These Players in Fantasy Basketball

Paolo Banchero, Orlando Magic

After injuries limited Banchero to 46 games last season, he has missed 10 games already this season. As if the time missed wasn't bad enough for fantasy managers, he is averaging a modest 19.9 points per game. That's a big step back from the 25.9 points per game that he provided last season. His efficiency is down a bit, but the main reason for his decline in scoring has been his usage rate dropping from 33.6% last season to 26.4% this season.

The addition of Desmond Bane is the main reason for Banchero's decline in usage rate. However, the star forward is still averaging 8.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. Don't trade him at a discount because his scoring contributions are down. He provides enough across the board to still make him a very valuable option.

Matas Buzelis, Chicago Bulls

Buzelis entered the season with an opportunity to break out in a big way. However, the Bulls' coaching staff has yet to unleash him. He is averaging just 27 minutes per game and has seen his role fluctuate on a nightly basis. Over their last four games, he didn't top 24 minutes in any matchup.

Injuries are becoming an issue for the Bulls again, with Josh Giddey (hamstring), Coby White (calf) and Zach Collins (toe) all out right now. That might force the Bulls to finally play Buzelis more on a consistent basis. Even with the current limitations on him, Buzelis has averaged 14.0 points, 5.2 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.7 three-pointers. If he could ever play 30+ minutes on a nightly basis, he could be a significant fantasy contributor. Despite the frustrations that have come with rostering him up to this point, his upside is too high to consider trading him at a discount right now.
