Best NBA Bets Today
New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic: Jalen Brunson over 29.5 points, -116 @ DraftKings
Brunson has been on a tear of late and has done a good job of stepping up his game when the Knicks have needed him the most. He poured in 35 points in the NBA Cup quarterfinals win over the Raptors on Tuesday, and he's posted at least 30 points in each of his last three appearances. Over his last 11 outings since returning from a two-game absence in mid-November, he's averaging 28.6 points per game while shooting 49.3 percent from the floor and 38.3 percent from three-point range. Brunson has averaged 22.0 ppg against the Magic in his career, but his excellent form in recent games suggests he should surpass this line.
New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic: Paolo Banchero over 29.5 points + rebounds, -117 @ Ceasars
The line is a bit high based on Banchero's recent performances, but the star forward should be involved heavily in terms of usage rate in this pivotal game. Banchero continues to work his way back from a groin issue that caused him to miss 10 games between Nov. 14 and Dec. 3. He's yet to reach the 20-point mark since returning to the hardwood, but the Magic need him at his best to get past the Knicks, especially in a tough matchup against New York's frontcourt. He had 25 points + rebounds in the last game, a 117-108 win over Miami, and his numbers have risen with each passing game. Banchero has averaged 20.7 points, 6.0 boards and 3.2 assists per game in nine games against the Knicks in his career.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: Spurs to cover +10.5 spread, -105 @ BetMGM
The Thunder are dominating the competition this season and have lost just one game throughout the campaign. The NBA Cup hasn't been any different, and they destroyed the Suns in the quarterfinals. However, the Spurs pose a different matchup, especially now that Victor Wembanyama (calf) is expected back in the lineup. Even if the star big man has a playing time restriction, his presence in the frontcourt could wreak havoc against the duo of Isaiah Hartenstein and Chet Holmgren. The Thunder are expected to win, but the Spurs have weapons to neutralize them defensively. The Thunder are expected to win, but the Spurs could make it a game and might have a shot at covering the 10.5 spread. The Spurs have covered this spread in all but one of their last five contests.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 42.5 points + rebounds + assists, -108 @ FanDuel
The Thunder are massive favorites here, and while the Spurs can neutralize them, OKC should find a way to get the win. If that happens, Gilgeous-Alexander will probably carry the team to victory, as has been the case all season long. SGA has had over 42.5 P+R+A in two of his last three games, but the only reason he hasn't posted this line more is because he's routinely sitting out the fourth quarters. If this game is close and OKC needs their star point guard to be at his best, chances are he will be able to reach the 42.5 P+R+A once again. He's done that in five of his last seven appearances.
