2026 Fantasy Outlook
Meyer cracked the Marlins' Opening Day rotation and was brilliant in his first five starts, putting up a 2.10 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 41:7 K:BB over 30 innings. The last outing during that stretch saw the righty toss six shutout innings while notching 14 strikeouts and zero walks versus the Reds. Meyer then went into a tailspin, posting a 7.01 ERA across his next seven starts before eventually undergoing season-ending labral repair surgery on his left hip. There's a good chance the hip issue contributed to Meyer's struggles in his last few starts, and the hope is he'll recover to begin the 2026 season on time. Meyer's slider is a devastating pitch that induced whiffs at a 42.4 percent rate in 2025, and he leans on it as his primary offering. However, opponents have teed off on his four-seamer, and while his changeup fared better this past season, it hasn't traditionally been a reliable third pitch. With one excellent pitch and groundball tendencies, the 27-year-old has a foundation to build on, but consistency could continue to elude Meyer until he finds something else in his repertoire he can rely on. Strong spring continues
Meyer gave up two hits over three scoreless innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets. He struck out four without walking a batter.
Analysis
The 26-year-old right-hander is having an impressive spring, posting a 6:0 K:BB over four scoreless frames. Meyer is locked into an Opening Day rotation spot, and while good health might be the only thing standing between him and a breakout campaign, he has a lot to prove given his 5.29 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 127.2 career big-league innings.

Meyer made his long-awaited return from Tommy John surgery and pitched extremely well to begin last season before the Marlins pumped the brakes. They sent him down to Triple-A and moved him to a 3-to-4 inning regimen, carefully managing his workload. Meyer, the third overall pick in 2020, failed to recapture the same magic later in the year, going 1-5 with a 7.20 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 40 innings following his return to the majors. Miami regularly turned him loose for 90-plus pitches down the stretch, so perhaps the kid gloves are off. His slider was extremely effective and his velocity was close to pre-surgery levels. Meyer could head back to the minors to begin 2025, but the right-hander will get another extended audition in the rotation soon enough.
