2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Cijntje was seen as a potential mid-rotation starter when Seattle selected him 15th overall out of Mississippi State in 2024, and his dynasty value got a boost due to the ideal landing spot. Most famous for being a switch-pitcher, Cijntje got shelled as a lefty in his debut season, giving up two homers while walking 19 batters in 62 plate appearances, and he will be pitching only as a righty in 2026. All told, he logged a 3.99 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 120:51 K:BB in 108.1 innings across High-A and Double-A. Control was his biggest weakness, but he had a perfectly fine 8.1 percent walk rate as a righty, so this offseason could represent a modest buy-low opening in dynasty leagues. He sits in the mid-90s with his plus fastball and boasts an upper-80s slider that is a wipeout offering against righties (.480 OPS against in 223 PA against righties as a righty). Cijntje's floor is comfortably established as a potential setup man on the strength of his fastball and slider, but if he can find a weapon to neutralize lefties, he could make good on his pre-draft mid-rotation upside. Focusing on throwing right-handed
Cijntje will throw only right-handed in spring training games and live batting practice sessions while he's in big-league camp, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis
The switch pitcher did some warm-up throws left-handed during a live batting practice session Friday, and he will continue to develop both arms. However, while with the major-league club, Cijntje's focus will be on throwing from the right side. The 22-year-old's ceiling as a pitching prospect is much higher from the right side and there's a good chance he will eventually throw solely with that arm. Cijntje was acquired from the Mariners earlier this month in the Brendan Donovan trade.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Club OK trading him for Donovan
The Mariners are willing to trade Cijntje in a potential deal for Brendan Donovan, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Analysis
Divish writes that the Mariners and Cardinals have "engaged in lengthy discussions" about Donovan, but nothing appears close at this point as St. Louis weighs overtures from several teams about its super utility player. The Mariners are hesitant to trade from their major-league roster, but Cijntje -- a first-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft -- can evidently be had. The switch pitcher collected a 3.99 ERA and 120:51 K:BB over 108.1 innings between High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas in 2025 in his first professional season.
