Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Santos was acquired by Seattle to deepen its bullpen prior to the 2024 season, but a variety of injuries limited Santos to just over seven innings of work on the season. He missed two months with right bicep inflammation related to a nerve issue, and previously missed more than three months with a severe lat strain. This all came on the heels of his 2023 season ending early with right elbow inflammation. To be sure, strains and inflammations are the last thing you want to see from a hard-throwing reliever, especially one so reliant on a dastardly slider. The lost time and injury risk have likely led to Santos moving down from the primary setup man or potential closer to someone more likely to work in specific leverage situations against righty-heavy lineups unless something changes with his repertoire and his health. The Seattle bullpen is not exactly set it stone, so anything is possible if Santos's body doesn't let him down once again. Read Past Outlooks
Signs with Giants as NRI
Santos signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Santos first reached the majors with the Giants in 2021 before being traded to the White Sox three years ago. The 26-year-old had a tough time with injuries the past two seasons with the Mariners, making a total of only 16 appearances due to arm and knee problems. Santos is recovered from April arthroscopic right knee surgery and has a chance to win a spot in the Giants' bullpen.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Santos was designated for assignment by San Francisco last off-season, only to be acquired by the White Sox soon afterwards. Despite having minimal experience at the big-league level, the hard-throwing right-hander made Chicago's opening day bullpen. He spent the first two months working in low leverage, but his solid body of work, good control (5.9% walk rate) and excellent slider (.196 BA, 37.5% whiff rate) earned him higher-leverage opportunities as the season went on. The 24-year-old converted his first save in early July, then stepped into closing duties once Chicago unloaded their veteran relievers at the trade deadline. Santos totaled five saves before right elbow inflammation ended his season in mid-September. He was expected to open 2024 as the White Sox's primary closer but was dealt to Seattle in early February, where he likely won't have much fantasy value in a significantly better bullpen.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Would make $1.3 million in MLB
Santos' minor-league contract with the Giants will pay him $1.3 million if he makes the Opening Day roster, reports Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander posted a 3.39 ERA in 60 appearances with the White Sox in 2023, but after being traded to the Mariners he has struggled to stay healthy the past two seasons. Santos will likely need a strong showing during spring training to secure a roster spot, but he could be a valuable bullpen piece for San Francisco if he can get back on track.
