Gil, signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2023, slashed .308/.395/.514 with six home runs, 16 steals, a 12 percent walk rate and a 19.2 percent strikeout rate in 36 games across Single-A and Double-A after getting activated from the 7-day injured list July 26. Something seemingly clicked for Gil after he returned from injury, as he slashed .225/.321/.290 in 70 games for the GreenJackets from April 4 through July 10. Coming into 2025, Gil was known as an athletic defensive shortstop prospect with plus-plus speed and questionable offensive potential. He stole 54 bases in 107 games and his late-season surge suggests Gil has more offensive upside than his season stats or scouting reports indicate. He only needs to provide double-digit homer power to profile as any everyday shortstop down the road. Gil should head to High-A and doesn't turn 20 until May. Read Past Outlooks
