Things for Bryant in Colorado have continued to get worse, and unfortunately there appears to be no end in sight to the misery. The 34-year-old played in 11 of the Rockies' first 14 games of the 2025 season before undergoing an ablation operation in May to address lumbar degenerative disc disease. The procedure doesn't seem to have had the desired effect, as Bryant noted over the offseason that he was still experiencing daily discomfort with his back. Bryant has averaged only 42.5 games played in his four seasons with the Rockies, and his production when he's been on the field has gotten worse every year. There are still three years and $81 million remaining on Bryant's contract, and at this point it's likelier the two sides discuss a financial arrangement that would allow him to medically retire than it is he becomes a contributing big leaguer again.
