Luis Morales

23-Year-Old PitcherSP
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Morales was called up Aug. 1 and quickly made a name for himself, going 4-3 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 43:18 K:BB over 48.2 innings spanning 10 appearances (nine starts) with the Athletics. The right-hander was especially good away Sacramento, posting a 2.21 ERA and .167 BAA. Signed out of Cuba for $3 million in 2023, Morales throws hard, averaging 97.3 mph on his fastball last season. He can then change speeds at 89.9 mph or break off a sweeper to induce whiffs (38.0 Whiff%). While his strikeout rate was a modest 21.6% in his first exposure to big-league competition, he was close to 30% in the minors before his promotion, showing the potential for growth in that department. Sutter Health Park proved especially hitter friendly last season and good for lefty power, which makes life hard on a righty. Nonetheless, given his success down the stretch, Morales should have a leg up for a spot in the A's rotation to begin the 2026 season. Read Past Outlooks
