France underwent surgery in July of 2024 to repair a capsule tear in his right shoulder, which led to him opening the 2025 campaign on the 60-day injured list. It was a lengthy stint on the IL, with his first rehab outing taking place mid-July before he was activated in August. France appeared in seven games (four starts) for Triple-A Sugar Land and did appear in two games out of the Astros' bullpen in September. That said, long gone are the days in which he was a serviceable member of a major-league rotation as he was with Houston in 2023, when he went 11-6 (in 23 starts) while logging a 3.83 ERA, 1.36 wHIP and 101:47 K:BB across 136.1 innings. France will start the 2026 season in the minors, but if he shows improvement and doesn't suffer an injury setback, he could see some major-league action in 2026 as a spot starter or as a long-relief arm out of the bullpen.
