As expected by those who were paying attention, Tiedemann didn't reach the majors in 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in late-July of 2024. It is worth noting that he didn't make it back for any rehab starts or fall/winter ball, as TJS doesn't have a 100 percent success rate and Tiedemann earned an injury-prone label before needing surgery. Assuming he's ready to start pitching in games this spring, the talented lefty will be brought along carefully, as he won't be able to throw many innings in 2026 regardless of how he's used. He has never topped the 78.2 innings he threw in 2022 and his stuff had started declining before surgery, so there are a lot of unknowns with the 2021 third rounder. It's possible Tiedemann will look like his old self as a starter sometime this summer, but the first step will be a normal, healthy build up this spring. He is on the 40-man roster, but a debut out of the bullpen would make more sense if Tiedemann gets the call, given his projected workload and the Jays' rotation depth. Read Past Outlooks
