Kahnle has primarily thrown changeups since 2019, but his usage went to the extreme in 2025. The 36-year-old tossed his off-speed pitch a career-high 85.6 percent of the time, though it wasn't as dominant as years past, producing a career-low 26.4 percent whiff rate. Still, the right-hander was effective enough for Detroit, especially during the first few months of 2025. Kahnle recorded five of his nine saves during the month of April and carried a 1.77 ERA and 0.79 WHIP through the end of June. Unfortunately, things went off the rails during the month of July (19.64 ERA, 3.14 WHIP) to inflate his ratios overall. On the plus side, Kahnle remained healthy all year and pitched the most innings (63.0) since his rookie season in 2014. The veteran's experience in high-leverage should be enough to land him a short-term contract in free-agency this offseason. Read Past Outlooks
