Castellanos remained a useful fantasy piece in 2023 and 2024 even as his WAR dipped close to zero thanks largely to his high number of plate appearances, with his average of 665 across those two seasons ranking 19th in the league. He finally lost his everyday role midway through 2025, however, with his performance on the offensive side of the ball no longer strong enough to offset the fact that he was the worst defensive outfielder in the game according to Outs Above Average. Castellanos's .250/.294/.400 slash line was merely good for a 90 wRC+, and while he did still manage 72 runs and 72 RBI, he's unlikely to keep compiling those sort of numbers moving forward. He still makes a roughly league-average amount of contact (22.6 K%), but he doesn't walk much (5.4 BB%), and his hard-hit rate has fallen from 43.2% to 37.7% to 34.5% in consecutive seasons. The Phillies are expected to trade or release him this winter, and other teams won't be lining up to give him everyday at-bats. Read Past Outlooks
