MLB DFS: FanDuel Plays and Strategy for Monday, October 13

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Days with multiple MLB games are rare right about now, and soon they will not be a thing. As such, let us cherish this Monday. We have Game 2 of the ALCS and Game 1 of the NLCS. The first pitch is at 5:03 p.m. ET. Here are my MLB DFS lineup recommendations. Good luck! Enjoy the games, and also the fact I can use the word "games."

Pitching

Blake Snell, LAD vs. MIL ($10,000): Snell allowed a single earned run over his final three games of the regular season. He's made two postseason starts and he's allowed two runs total. It would seem fair to say a pitcher who has won the Cy Young in the past is locked in. While the Brewers didn't have to travel anywhere after a big Game 5 win over the Cubs, they do have to worry about their lefty hitters facing the southpaw Snell.

Top Target

As many baseball fans learned watching Trey Yesavage pitch against the Yankees, though he is right-handed, his pitching repertoire actually is better at neutralizing southpaws. New York's righties didn't do much against him in that one start, but during the regular season, righties were able to get to him, as they hit .333 against Yesavage. Julio Rodriguez ($3,900) had a 30/30/30 season (the third 30 being doubles), and he can hit righties fairly well. More to the point, though, he had a .912 OPS away from Seattle.

Bargain Bat

The Mariners only run out righty starters, and they have only one notable lefty in the bullpen in Gabe Speier, which bodes well for Addison Barger ($3,000). Toronto's third baseman slugged .480 against righties this season, hitting 20 home runs in those matchups as well. Luis Castillo is in line to start Game 2, and while he's a steady presence in Seattle's rotation, he also might wish he was getting to pitch at home again. Since 2023 he has a 4.16 ERA on the road.

Stack to Consider

Dodgers at Brewers (Jose Quintana): Mookie Betts ($3,800), Teoscar Hernandez ($3,600), Enrique Hernandez ($2,600)

The Brewers put their bullpen to the test in Game 5, and Brandon Woodruff is not healthy enough to pitch in this series. Milwaukee will need something from Quintana in this game, and to that I say "good luck." He had a 5.08 ERA and 1.6 HR/9 rate at home this season. All in all, the southpaw had a sub-2.00 K/BB rate on the campaign as well. Since he is a lefty, I have three righties in this stack.

Leave it to Betts to put a disappointing regular season behind him to soar in the playoffs. He has an 1.005 OPS with three doubles and a triple. That may be over only six games, but he's a right-handed shortstop facing a questionable lefty, so that works for me. It's not surprising that Teoscar Hernandez has flashed power (or only walked once). He's slugged .692 with three home runs. What is a bit of a pleasant surprise is that he's hit .308 as well. It's the playoffs, which means Enrique Hernandez is in his element and a regular in the Dodgers' lineup. He's appeared in every game for Los Angeles in this postseason, and he's hit .318 with four RBI and five runs scored.
