Key MLB Betting Trends and Matchups Analysis

Betting playoff baseball is a completely different animal as you have the best pitching, hitting, bullpens, etc. going against each other. Rotations are no longer lined up like they were in the last round, so we are seeing larger moneylines and totals.

There will be more bullpen games, so it is important to try and piece together what you think each team will do in regards to pitching. This also means the benches will come into play a lot more in a seven-game series.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays Best Bets and Predictions

Game 4 of the 2025 World Series will take place in Los Angeles at Dodgers Stadium. The Dodgers lead the series 2-1 after a 6-5 win on Monday night that lasted almost 7 hours into the 18th inning.

RHP Shane Bieber will take the mound for the Blue Jays, and he will have to go longer than normal based on the bullpen usage in last night's game. The Dodgers will go with RHP Shohei Ohtani, and after playing 18 innings, you have to wonder how much he will have left in the tank. The Dodgers opened as -185 home favorites with a total of 7.5 runs.  The total immediately jumped to 8.0, and 8.5 in some spots, based on the bullpen availability Tuesday night. The moneyline jumped up to -190 and -210 in favor of the Dodgers.

The Dodgers were -150 road favorites in Game 1, and they lost.  They were -143 road favorites, and they won 5-1. In Game 3, which was in Los Angeles, they closed as -200 home favorites.

I went all in on the Dodgers and Blake Snell in Game 1 and got burned, as the Jays got to him early. I am looking at leaning towards the road underdog in Game 4 as just taking value.

Since September 17th, the Dodgers are 18-4. They have allowed exactly one run in six out of their last seven games. The Blue Jays are 12-5 over their last 17 games so both teams came into this series playing strong baseball.

BETTING TRENDS

  • The total has gone OVER in six of Toronto's last eight games.
  • Toronto is 5-2 SU in its last seven games.
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Toronto's last six games on the road.
  • The total has gone UNDER in six of LA Dodgers' last seven games.
  • LA Dodgers is 5-1 SU in its last six games at home.
  • LA Dodgers is 6-3 SU in its last nine games when playing at home against Toronto.

The Jays will have to let Bieber go longer than usual, and the line reflects that on recorded outs at 14.5 and -193 (opened -150). Ohtani's recorded outs have also jumped to over 17.5 at -167.

I think the Jays' pitching is in better shape for Game 4, and I will take the road 'dog to even up the series at 2-2.

Tuesday's Best Bets

  • Ohtani Under 17.5 recorded outs for 1 unit (+125 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
  • Bieber Over 14.5 recorded outs for 1 unit (-167 at BetRivers Sportsbook)
  • Blue Jays ML for 1 unit (+176 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
