Sidey (undisclosed) won't fight against Malcolm Wellmaker at UFC 322, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear why Sidey needed to pull out of UFC 322, but it will require Wellmaker to find a new opponent. Sidey has won back-to-back fights, both coming via decision -- one unanimous, one split.

Taking on Wellmaker at MSG
BantamweightUFC

Sidey will face Malcolm Wellmaker at UFC 322 at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 15, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Sidey will head into the bout coming off back-to-back victories in UFC play dating back to November of 2024. The 5-foot-11 Canadian will take slight advantages in both height and reach into the fight compared to the older American. With a perfect 7-0 record in KO/TKO finishes, Sidey will likely be looking to use his stopping power to end this one early, though he will have his hands full with the undefeated Wellmaker (10-0 overall, 6-0 via KO/TKO).
Gets right back in win column

Sidey defeated Cameron Smotherman via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
ANALYSIS
Sidey had gone to a pair of split decisions in his first two UFC bouts, losing a fight he deserved to win and winning a fight he deserved to lose. He left it in the hands of the judges once again here, but the result wasn't in doubt because Sidey was in firm control the entire way. Smotherman was totally unable to get out of first gear. That allowed Sidey to pick him apart on the feet in addition to landing five takedowns. It was a very competent performance in what was a closely-lined fight. There's nothing in Sidey's background to suggest he is any sort of contender at the highest level, but this was definitely a step in the right direction.
Scheduled against Smotherman

Sidey is scheduled to compete against fellow bantamweight Cameron Smotherman at UFC Fight Night 258 in Des Moines on May 3, per Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
UFC Fight Night 258 is scheduled to include Sidey's first 2025 fight. During 2024, he went 1-1, with controversial decisions in both his win and loss. Sidey decisively defeating Smotherman would help erase the negative stigma surrounding the former's previous year.
Gifted decision by judges

Sidey defeated Garrett Armfield via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Edmonton.
ANALYSIS
Sidey was the victim of a terrible decision in his UFC debut, a loss to Ramon Taveras last January. The judges got him back here. Sidey looked visibly shocked when Bruce Buffer made the announcement and confirmed in his post-fight press conference that he thought he lost. He was indeed correct. Sidey started quickly before fading. He did very little over the course of the final eight or nine minutes and was dominated over the final five, allowing three takedowns in Round 3 alone. Sidey racked up a ton of knockouts on the Canadian regional scene prior to his UFC arrival, but that power hasn't carried over during his brief time with the company. He's officially 1-1 to begin his run with the promotion.

Sidey will face Garrett Armfield in a bantamweight fight at UFC Edmonton on Nov. 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Sidey will step on the octagon for the first time since late January, when he suffered a defeat against Ramon Taveras. Sidey is still looking for his first win at the UFC level, though he owns a solid 10-2 record as a professional fighter.
