Jaydn Ott

23-Year-Old Running BackRB
2025 Fantasy Outlook
An undrafted free agent, Ott was never able to build on a big 2023 sophomore season at Cal due to injuries, and he barely played in 2025 with Oklahoma. His best moments on tape show a back with some early-down appeal, as he has adequate size and power and good vision to make the most of his blocking, but he needs to put in work to become a viable passing-down option, and he doesn't have the speed or elusiveness to be much of a big-play threat. In a Kansas City backfield that just got rebuilt around Kenneth Walker, Ott may need to prove he can contribute on special teams just to win a spot on the practice squad. Read Past Outlooks

The Chiefs signed Ott as an undrafted free agent Friday.
ANALYSIS
Ott played three years at California before transferring to Oklahoma for his senior season. The running back suffered a shoulder issue entering the 2025 season that led to him seeing meaningful snaps in only two games. The Chiefs are likely taking a flyer on Ott due to his 2023 season at California, where he rushed 245 times for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns and added 26 receptions for 321 yards and three touchdowns. Ott's standout sophomore campaign suggests he has a shot to be a meaningful producer at the NFL level if he can avoid the injury bug.

Fifth-rounder per Reuter

Chad Reuter of NFL.com's five-round mock draft has Ott going 167 overall to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Ott had just 68 rushing yards in seven games at Oklahoma in 2025 but was productive at California in 2022 and 2023 prior to the onset of injury issues. He bolstered his draft stock at the Senior Bowl by standing out as a pass blocker, thrusting Ott back into the conversation as an option on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Houston seems like a decent fit for Ott considering new Texans lead back David Montgomery is known as an early-down bruiser who doesn't contribute much in passing situations.
